Default Ocala Eye. Extra long waits?

It seems when I visit Ocala Eye, the waits have been very, very long. I mean at least an hour before you see the doctor. Am I the only one who experiences this? I've seen many docs in The Villages. Ocala Eye's scheduling seems to be the worse.

Usually 20-30 for me. Haven't seen it as a problem.
If you are waiting and hour now.......wait until February.

I had a first appointment there September 19 and was there a total of 3 hours. I have been treated for glaucoma for 6 years now and NEVER waited that long. I was especially incensed that even though several of the workers went back and forth in front of me, no one apologized for my wait. I would have walked out but needed a prescription for drops so I felt like I was stuck there. When Dr. ElMallah finally came in, he did apologize for my wait. I asked if this was typical and everyone told me "no, it was just a busy Monday". Can anyone recommend a glaucoma specialist with little waiting time? Thanks

When we first moved here 2 years ago I had my 1st experience with OcalaEye and my app'ts (think there were 3 because I was a new patient and had some issues) all entailed LONG waits. I too had never had that up north. I just had my 'yearly' re-check with Dr. Elmallah and this time it wasn't so bad. Perhaps the day of the week and time also has something to do with it. I'd bet though, that they triple book!!! IF enough folks complained to the clinic manager maybe that would help make a difference!

I had an appointment for a checkup with my regular Dr. I waited 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment. They do not call me back or acknowledge me. So, I got up and left. They called my phone an hour later asking me where I was. I told them I was shoppng. They then told me how sorry they were and rescheduled my appt. Been 2 years and my max wait since then has been less than 15 minutes.

yes, I find the wait can be from 30 minutes until 45 minutes. I guess they feel their time is more valuable than mine!

Default 45 mins would be an improvement

My appointments over the past 17 months have ALWAYS each taken several hours. I've complained to no avail. The only concession I've gained, is that my Visual Field, and consult with the doctor, are now scheduled in the same morning. I am on a fixed income, and refused to spend TWO co-pays in order to get the test, then meet the doctor a week later for the results. The staff are completely oblivious to how long patients moulder in the waiting areas. Its business as usual. Sad, but true.

I am one who believes MY TIME is just as valuable as theirs. I expect to be seen within a reasonable (i.e. 15 minutes) of my scheduled appointment. Yes, emergencies do happen and I understand WHEN THEY TAKE THE TIME TO ADVISE ME OF THE PROBLEM but I never understand when I am ignored or not informed. At Ocala Eye, I waited almost an hours after my appointment time, no one had said anything to me, no explanation, so I walked out and have never been back. There are only three chances that I will return to a place that treats me like that - (1) FAT, (2) SLIM and (3) NONE!

Default Held Captive By Ins. Provider

Oh, how I WiSH I had the luxury of simply going to another provider. However I am held captive by a very limited pool of providers in my insurance directory.

Just a thought.....
I too have felt annoyed at waiting long past my appointment time. However, I began to realize that once the doctor came in, he/she took all the time with me that was needed. That time element can't be predicted from patient to patient.

I wouldn't want a cut-off time with my specialist, just so he/she could stay on schedule. That would be MY cue to exit.....

But if the Doc is running way behind, it would be considerate to have a head's up when you arrive. Most times, if MY time is limited, I'll ask politely when I sign in if that will be a problem. I've never had them NOT be honest about how the flow is going.
Better than getting my knickers in a twist.
