Hubby just broke his ankle. Doc at urgent care said he needs to see an orthopedic doctor because he will probably need surgery and a screw in his ankle. Suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I don't know if she is well-versed in ankles but, when I broke my wrist four years ago tripping over an iron cord, I was referred to her by the ER at The Villages Hospital. Her name is Monique Grey, MD, at Florida Musculotskeletal Inst. in Leesburg, 352-728-3000. She was very competent in performing the delicate surgery to get my wrist back in working order. They have an office in The Villages, 352-753-4366 on Old Camp Rd.. Good luck.

Recent announcement in Daily Sun stated that Dr. Grey was leaving the group and moving out of FL. You might consider Tri County Orthopedics with offices in Leesburg and Summit Medical Plaza on CR 466 Lady Lake. If you would not mind driving to Ocala, you might consider the outstanding surgeons at The Orthopedic Institute. They also have office in Gainesville.

Dr.Chad Watkins in Lake Sumter Landing. Did my ankle surgery with excellent results. Excellent staff and very close to rehab.....next door!

I highly recommend Dr. Chad Watkins of Florida Musculotskeltel. I broke my ankle 3 yrs ago and he performed surgery and put in a plate and 5 screws. I'm hardly aware of it. I forget I have a plate in my ankle. No problems at all, I can do everything I did before!

I recommend Dr. Peter Mulhern. He will only do surgery if necessary. He worked on my knee and hand without surgery (and was my neighbor) in Georgia before he moved his practice to TV.
