I am wondering if it is the pharmacy I'm using or Florida pricing or something else??? I have moved here from Arkansas and my insurance company would be charged $44.81 for my prescription of Clobetasol.
Here they have charged my insurance company $735.00 for the same brand, same amount, same everything. My wife was getting Rostisis for her eyes and was paying $90.00 for a 3 month supply and here they are charging 331.50 for a 30 day supply!!! I just picked up another prescription my insurance was charged $537.00 that in Arkansas It would be 42.00!!
Anyone know why???? I called my insurance company and the said they would investigate but never heard back from them. Problem is my new year is coming up and I have a big deductible I have to pay that know 2 prescriptions will be $1270.00

Clobetasol - Prices, Coupons, and Information - GoodRx This is a generic topical steroid and should be inexpensive if a generic is available in the strength, formulation (cream, ointment) and tube size ordered. Costco.com is a useful site to check drug prices. Interestingly they have generic ointment 0.05% in 15 gm size with price from $15 to 371 for what looks identical. So something is going on with that product

Restasis is not available as a generic so I'm very very surprised that you were getting 90 days for 90 dollars.

If you have the same insurance as you did in Arkansas, most have a mail order option. Also you may have the option of having your Arkansas pharmacy fill the scripts and mail them to you. This of course is variable based on the super fine print in your policy.

I'm not familiar with those drugs, but I can tell you that it pays to shop around by phone and check prices. Simply ask "what is the cash price for a xx days supply of <drug>?"

My experience is with one generic drug. The cash prices for 30 pills ranged from $4 to $115!

My wife uses Restasis eye drops and pays $90 for a 4 month supply at Walmart pharmacy on CR466. She has Humana drug plan which requires her to use Walmart. It's an $18 a month premium and they automatically deduct it from her Social Security, so we never see the bill. There is a deductible, they call it a donut hole and it's about $200 every January depending on the drug.

After a day of research I found Publix is a VERY priced.... Compared the same prescriptions at Walgreens and their prices were $110.00 compared to $735.00!!! The other $500.00+ was $109.00 !!! How can there be such price differences??? I am going to check Walmart tomorrow !!!

I GOOGLE every new prescription before having it filled to determine the best price. Most times but not all, Costco has the best prices. I order one prescription for my Glaucoma from Costco that if I use my insurance, it would cost me $10.00 a month co-pay. If I buy a 90 day supply from Costco, it costs $11.00 delivered and I don't even use my insurance. You do not have to be a Costco member to order prescriptions. Find out the actual cost of your prescription before you ever give your insurance card to the Pharmacist. The money you save actually your own.

Read this twice and still not understanding, are you saying that Publix is HIGHER than Walgreens, or the reverse? Haven't had my coffee yet, maybe that's my problem. : )

An easy way to find prices on prescriptions is by using an app called GoodRx. We haved used it to find best prices, near us, and it has turned out to be fairly accurate. Amazing that they somehow get prices from all the places they do. The app is free on our iPad and iPhone.

Lucky Sevens.... Publix was extremely high priced. Walmarts is about the same as Walgreens but stay away from Publix !!!!

I believe Restasis is for dry eyes, is it not? How about drinking a big 6 or 8 ounce glass of water instead and see what happens. In the past, whenever I had dry (scratchy) eyes I would drink a big glass of water and my dry eyes would go away. Tap water is inexpensive - no prescription required.

My father had a friend who had a terrible time with dry eyes and he used eye drops. I came to find out that he didn't like to drink water. He told me that he drank a lot of beer in the summer to keep hydrated. When I told him beer was like a diuretic and would dehydrate him, he wouldn't believe me. So, he continued on with his dry eye condition.

I wonder if doctors ask their patients to first try drinking more water. Do they ever ask anything about the person's lifestyle? Or do they just quickly write a prescription when they hear a complaint about dry eyes.
