Maybe you were putting a small amount of vinegar in a very alkaline salad. Perhaps the tomatoes, cucumbers and lemon juice etc. counteracted the vinegar. I have two books on this subject, I'll look it up.

No, I take it in pure form.

Everything I've read on the subject supports what Quirky is saying about apple cider vinegar making PH levels more alkaline. Perhaps there have been new findings since your books on the subject were written?

In "The pH Miracle", the author states that vinegar is acid forming. In the other book, "The Ultimate pH Solution", the author provides a chart where vinegar is listed as "most acidic".

If the information has changed, I'm not aware of it. Where did you get your information?

Probably the same place as Quirky. And we seem to be getting similar results.

Back to raspberry and safflower oil. I didn't mean to hijack the thread on weight loss solutions. Sorry.

I heard about ACV on the internet, and did more research on the web. Then I bought some, and tried it for myself. Pretty straightforward.

But it's strange that you can't provide a source other than to say "the internet". Why would anyone who is unbiased pay to put information about this ACV product on the internet?

You're both getting poor results?

I think we require different levels of authentication before we try something. I look around a lot, then try it for myself. That's just my style. I understand if you like to pursue formal studies first for yourself.

Well, I don't mind but it was suggested that the information from my books might be outdated. That's what concerned me.

Let me know if this list helps...........I've also always read that apple cider vinegar was alkaline........when one would automtically think it was acidic, being vinegar.

This chart shows that it is almost midway between highly acidic and alkaline......

He claims you should aim for a 70/30 ratio between alkaline and acid foods....and no need to be extreme and remove all acidic foods from ones diet........

Click on HYPERLINK and then click on :
CLICK HERE FOR PRINTABLE VERSION OF THIS FREE LIST OF ALKALINE FOODS.
I did try to send the PDF file which I printed out at home here.......but I could not copy and paste it. It's an interesting list of foods from highly acidic to alkaline.

Apple Cider Vinegar is shown on page 4 of 7 pages......in the YELLOW COLUMN.

THE RED COLUMN IS THE HIGHLY ACIDIC, THE ORANGE COLUMN STILL ACIDIC......THEN IT GETS LESS ACIDIC AS YOU GO TOWARDS THE VARIOUS SHADES OF GREEN COLUMNS.

We've all known about the benefits of apple cider vinegar for years and lots of friends of ours swear by it..........for a myriad of ailments....especially for arthritis pain. It's supposed to make your system more alkaline. I know it sounds contradictory....but it works.

(Another home remedy is to soak raisins in GIN.....and then eat the raisins........since raisins have magnesium, I would think that's the real hero there.....plus the iron, especially if one is anemic. Many of today's ailments are symptoms of anemia....being that so many people live on restricted diets in order to stay slim).

Apple cider, apple cider vinegar and horseradish is what the old time Vermonters used..........dandelions in the springtime....as a tonic.
Horseradish will clear your nasal congestion faster than Nyquil which has so many bad things like raising blood pressure, etc.

I bought a gallon of Bragg's A.C.V. at amazon.com.....it will last forever.

Read below...............

"For centuries people have been using natural apple cider vinegar as both a food and a medicine for themselves and for their pets.

Since 400BC, Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, and others, have used vinegar and vinegar mixed with honey, as an energizing tonic and a healing elixir.

More recently, the health benefits of apple cider vinegar have been promoted by many well-known authors such as Dr Jarvis, Paul C. Bragg and Patricia Bragg.

D.C. Jarvis, a Vermont country doctor, noted that apple cider vinegar was a respected home remedy used by many Vermonters to successfully treat a number of common ailments and nagging aches and pains.

He was so impressed that he went on to write a book on his observations and experimentations with home remedies, especially apple cider vinegar, and its beneficial effects on both people and farm animals.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
http://www.apple-cider-vinegar-benef...leBlossom1.gifFirst let me say that apple cider vinegar is a completely natural product, resulting from the fermentation of apple juice to hard apple cider followed by a second fermentation to apple cider vinegar.

This natural product retains all the nutritional goodness of the apples from which it was made plus it is fortified with the extra acids and enzymes produced during the two fermentation steps.
It's the sum of all these ingredients that give apple cider vinegar its amazing health benefits.

A compilation of many time honored home remedies used for a wide range of health problems is included in the natural healing Home Remedies section.

Apple cider vinegar benefits include many external uses as well. It can be used to sooth sunburns and insect bites, to make your hair shine, and to treat dandruff just to mention a few. Click on the Hair Care or Home Remedies section for more details on these and many more uses.
Apple cider vinegar fits in well with today's trend towards eating natural healthy whole foods, and away from the overconsumption of highly processed convenience foods, which are depleted of much of their original nutrients.

Beware – Not all apple cider vinegars are created equal!
Many commercial apple cider vinegars have been pasteurized, filtered, refined or distilled in order to make the product look good, and thereby more appealing to the general public.
Unfortunately this extra processing destroys much of the healthy goodness and thus many of the apple cider benefits that were in the product in the first place.
The best type of apple cider vinegar to use is one made from cold pressed, organically grown whole apples, in which no chemicals or preservatives have been added, which contains the "mother of vinegar", and is not pasteurized. The "mother of vinegar" is a natural gelatinous substance formed during the last fermentation step.
This type of wholesome apple cider vinegar can be readily found in most health food stores and can be conveniently purchased online.
Alternatively, you can brew your own nutritious apple cider vinegar at home. It's surprisingly easy to do and the whole family can be involved.

Weight Loss
Another major apple cider vinegar benefit is weight loss. Although no one is sure how it works, it has helped many people lose weight. Click on the Weight Loss section to find out what the experts recommend as far as how much to take and how often, and the latest theories on why it works.

Animals love apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar benefits for our pets, from cats and dogs to pigeons and parrots to cows and horses, are numerous. It can be used as a daily health tonic, to deter insects such as mosquitoes, fleas and tics, to relieve skin conditions, and even to take away the smell of skunk. For details on these and many more uses, check out the Pet Care section.

Cooking with apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an amazingly versatile cooking ingredient. It adds a tangy taste to many drinks and deepens the flavors of numerous foods. Its important to note that vinegar is a major ingredient in most condiments. Mayonnaise and tomato ketchup account for more than 10% of the vinegar production in America.
Check out the Cooking with Vinegar section to discover a number of tricks and tips to improve a variety of common recipes that will save you time and energy, and to find several recipes that include apple cider vinegar as a major ingredient.
Other uses!
Besides the apple cider vinegar benefits for health, its use for weight loss, pet care, and cooking, it can also double up as a non-toxic household cleaner, deodorizer, and disinfectant."

Although, some foods like tomatoes and lemons, high in acid, get metabolized as alkaline. And, by the way, most processed foods like ice cream make the body more acidic.

There are at least a few books that explain this. One is: "The pH Miracle: Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health" by Robert O. Young PhD.

Lots of info out there on alkaline vs acidic........

It is puzzling, however, here is another mention that apple cider vinegar is an alkaline food......in fact it's in the "middle" range of alkaline, neither low nor high alkaline..........

In contrast, here is a list of acid forming foods:

Bone Health - Alkaline-Forming Food Chart

In contrast, here is a list of acid forming foods:
Bone Health - Acid-Forming Food Chart

Well, if you read the label on the product it will give the percentage of acid. It would usually be mostly water and about 3 to 6% acid? I forget the exact percentages. So the question is: Does the body metabolize it as alkaline? I trust my books more than I trust internet sources that I'm not familiar with.

One time I did a search to see if there was a cure for a certain ailment. Up came some information that gave the name of a major brand product. Anyone would know this brand. And the information said: :"Money back guarantee!" But in the store, when I read the packaging, there was no mention of any of this. So I called the company and was told that they don't advertise it for the purpose that was given on the internet. So the ad on the internet was totally bogus.
