I found that the only thing that helped me was L-Glutamine powder. You can buy it in bulk on Amazon. I started out with 5 mg daily and worked up to around 20 mg. It made my GERD go away!

I'm not suggesting this is a bad thing to use.
However I think it's also important to have regular checkups by a doctor or specialist.
My X husband used baking soda, and he was told that it masked the symptoms.
He had a throat scan and was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

Most likely due to gerd, not from the treatment itself.
People with GERD have a slightly higher risk of getting adenocarcinoma of the esophagus. This risk seems to be higher in people who have more frequent symptoms. But GERD is very common, and the vast majority of people who have it do not go on to develop esophageal cancer.

Alka-Seltzer:
sodium bicarbonate (antacid) and anhydrous citric acid (antacid). Original, Extra Strength and Lemon-Lime also contain aspirin (analgesic). Alka-Seltzer Gold also contains potassium bicarbonate (antacid).

Baking Soda:
Sodium bicarbonate

The esophageal cancer was definitely from GERD; I didn't mean to imply it was caused by baking soda.
My point was that self-treatment could possibly mask symptoms.
In my humble opinion, I think people who suffer DAILY from GERD should see a doctor or specialist.
The esophageal cancer I mentioned was only discovered by a larngoscopy. The patient survived due to early diagnosis.
