Default Seeking Recommendations for Outpatient Rehabilitation for Knee Surgery

Husband had full knee replacement surgery this month in NH. He's currently receiving outpatient rehabilitation services 2/3 times per week. Hoping to start our southern migration week of Thanksgiving. Anticipating that he will to continue some appointments when we arrive in TV. Would appreciate recommendations and referrals. Many Thanks!

OK I am not a doctor.. Here is what worked for me!!!!!

1. Ride a bicycle for about one hour, slowly, every day.

2. Make up a strap, make it so it will have a loop for your foot and ankle, lay down on the bed, pull that leg back to get a total angle of 120 total degrees. This is not a joke. If your leg is straight out, then it will bend 90 degrees, then you need another 30 degrees more of bend to get 120. Your can make a cardboard template cut to 30 or to 120 degrees. If this does not make sense, let me know, I can send you a picture of the strap I made up.
This is not a joking matter, the bending to 120 is very important, ask any KNOWLEDGEABLE therapist. You need to get the total bend in that knee and this will be a real benefit long term. One Ortho Doctor saw my strap and he really praised it.

You can send a Personal Message on here.

Florida Rehab Group at 441 and 466. My wife started with Lake Sumter Rehab after a knee replacement; quit them after 2 weeks because she feel she was not progressing. FRG had her back playing 18 holes after 6 weeks with them.

Physio Med behind Home Depot on Rolling Acres Road. I had 2 knee replacements and they were great. They make it fun but work you hard. I got 125 deg bend in 6 weeks, 3x a week. It will depend on who takes your insurance I would guess.

Agree with PhysioMed...I had 2 knees replaced and when to this location for follow up PT. However alot has to do with your surgery and who performed it. Dr Nguyen refers alot of his Village patients to PhysioMed and they were weeks ahead of most other patients from other Doctors.

Also need to agree with what bbbbb stated earlier. ON my off days from PT I would lay on the bed and simply use a large towel to place under my heal and slowly bring my foot back towards me and hold it for a period of time (30seconds or so) and do that a number of times each day. Definitely helped reaching the 120 degree goal for knee bend.

I trust Dr. Nguyens judgement. In 2013, he was recommending Lake Center for Rehab in Sumter Landing. I experienced great success with them, and with their good advice, I continued rehab for another three months at a local health club.

A local shoulder specialist is Dr. Issac Mitchel with the Tri County Orthopaedic Group 352- 326-8115

Here are some writeups on him. He does take time with his patients and makes certain you understand pros and cons of what will/could happen.
