I just called Publix Pharmacy and you DO need a prescription for the Shingles Vaccine.

From memory, one doctor told me that if you don't get the vaccine, your chances of getting shingles is 3 out of 100. If you get the vaccine, your chances will be 2 out of 100. So I guess I didn't gain much by getting the vaccine but I got it anyway. If I do get shingles it will be less severe than if I didn't get the vaccine...

I think many of us have relatives who make up statistics on the fly to support their position. According to the CDC one out of three people over 60will develop shingles. Maybe your memory or your physician's memory is somewhat dated?
