Default Dr. Gegaj

We just received notice that Dr. Florian Gegaj is leaving Florida Heart and Vascular. Does anyone know where he is going? Possibly private practice?

Default Dr. Gegaj leaving FHV

Just heard Dr. Gegaj is leaving his practice at FHV the first week of January. Called his office and they confirmed! Anyone know why or where he’s going??

The best place to find out would have been his office when you called to confirm!

They wouldn’t say.

He’s my doc. I saw him recently and asked if he’d be in the area a while and he responded yes—he loves it here and so does his family.

Please post, anyone, when you find out where he is.

Default Good Dr.

Had him as my GP when I first moved here 7 years ago. Then he left and went into a specialty field. He’s very good and wish he would go back into general practice.

You must be thinking of someone else. Dr. Gegaj is an internist and is essentially a primary care physician. I don't think an internist is what you would call a specialist, like a cardiologist, for example.

+1. He’s my PCP. I just saw him 3 weeks ago.

Based on a conversation with a reliable source, I learned last week that Dr. Gegaj is opening his own practice, probably sometime in February 2020. He is going to be located in Lake Sumter at the Creekside medical office area next to St. Lukes Eye Center. It is my understanding that Dr. Gegaj is a primary care medical internist with a specialty in cardiology. At this point it is unclear what supplemental insurances he will be accepting along with medicare. If you are a current patient, you should be hearing directly from him as to the details about his new practice.

Creekside Medical is a Villages Health Care office in Lake Sumtner. Is he joining the Villages Health Care or opening his own private practice?
If Villages Health then they only take Medicare Advantage and Florida Blue Cross and of course their own United Health Care.

My wife and I both have him as our PC physician. I am a little upset with timing of announcement as the window for moving to Villages Advantage system expired two weeks ago. Hopefully the rumor of him starting private practice close by is correct. He is a real sharp guy.

You have this twisted around.

The Creekside Medical Center is a complex of buildings/parking near Lake Sumter Landing. The Villages Health has one building there. There are many other medical providers in the buildings which share the parking.

He is my primary. He is NOT going into practice under TV Health. He is opening his own private practice. He has secured the office and is in the process of setting it up.
