I am a post stroke patient. Went to my neurologist for routine visit. Told her of symptoms that concerned me. She called an ambulance and had me transported to Leesburg hospital. They did a cat scan but no MRI. ER Dr felt I had carpal tunnel. ??? She discharged me. Neurologist shocked that no MRI was done. Sent me to RayUs stat. Result was a new stroke. Told to go immediately to a hospital. Well I was not going back to Leesburg after that inept Dr thought I had carpal tunnel, so I went to The Villages Hospital. Seen immediately, admitted after extensive workup. Excellent care. Their hospital neurologist is excellent. Wish he had a private practice.

Have the love the over generalization. All we "know" is that in the ONE instance described by the OP, ONE practitioner made what most of us consider a bad decision. It does not mean ALL practitioners at ALL encounters.

From my perspective, that ONE physician needs to earn about 10 CME credits in the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of renal calculi, but that DOES NOT mean they ALL do.

Not even chiropractors!!!!!!!!!

We were in the ER for a short while, then the ICU, then the surgical recovery floor and now rehab. All were great. I know people complain about this hospital, but our experiences have been wonderful. I think since Univ. of Florida took over things have improved. Our visiting daughter even mentioned how impressed she was with the hospital and care.

We also had an outstanding experience at the Spanish Springs hospital. (Name is currently UF Health Spanish Plaines). We donated to the "Grateful Patients " fund at the hospital to show gratitude.

I'm sorry. I thought this thread was about real medicine at a real ER with real doctors. That, by definition, excludes chiropractors.

Well, since half of the thread is about the Emergency Department on El Camino Real, at least half the thread isn’t about real medicine or a real ER, and if the doctors working there are real, they really suck at what they do.

Not everyone had a bad experience

Like I said this was one experience, maybe not a reason to condemn the whole emergency dept. My other experience was 2 years ago diagnosed with infected tonsil. Told me the had no ear nose and throat specialist and sent me in an ambulance to Gainesville. Gave me steroids and was home in two days.
