For those of us who don't know, exactly who are "the Villages Labs"? Is that the name of a place, and if so, where is it located? Is it the only place in TV where you can have blood work done?

My lab reports show that they are outsourced to Labcor (same lab my Dr. used back in NYS) and not done by "The Villages Lab." I believe that when "The Villages Lab" was expressed, that was actually referring to Alliance Labs, which has the Leesburg & Villages Hospitals listed as well as the Villages Health Centers. See the full list at Laboratory services | Central Florida Health Alliance | Leesburg, Florida
My doctor at Colony, now Pinellas used Alliance at first, but switched me to Labcor at my request because my insurance did not cover Alliance Lab. There is also a LABPAC indicated on some of the test, but I don't know if that is an outsource or not so I've sent a message to my Dr. asking about it!
Personally, I like many feel that the Villages Health system is well worth belonging to, and find little problem with the time frame that my blood test were processed. That however could be because I have routine test every 6 months and feel no rush or reason to expect results available to me personally within 12-48 hours. At the same time I would want and expect faster results of tests run only if they're ordered as the results of new symptoms being diagnosed.
As for "thinking twice" before joining the Villages Health Centers, yes one should think twice, but I would prefer to use a less alarming way of expressing that by saying 'use all due diligence in selecting any health care provider you may be considering.'
