In my case ,Yes I was in a Neck collar on a backboard having been in a car accident and transported by ambulance. Yes I went directly to emergency. I was naturally upset and overwhelmed waiting for treatment by a triage doctor.
After a few hours I did need something to drink and repeatedly ask if it was ok. I do not know ( and still do not know) what is standard procedure for a case like mine. I do know a volunteer should not be trying to lift my head or raise the gurney! That was my comment on the emergency room here. Folks , please do not hurt other people's feelings when writing your opinion. It is not kind or compassionate to make a judgement when you are unaware of the details or medical needs of an individual ( one who is experiencing a life threatening situation to boot) I would gladly have let you step in my shoes at the time . |
Perhaps we need someone to publish a booklet on what is an emergency situation and what is not, because apparently none of us knows.
