Hey Chuck, yes I’m a cop, been with San Antonio Police for 29 years. Plan to retire around 10/2020 with 30 year pension. We first visited my uncle in TV about 2016. We did do a lifestyle visit in 2017 and loved it. We rented for two weeks last year and we already have a house reserved for a couple weeks late July early August. We also have been seeing houses we really like selling and worry about how prices will change. We will probably buy down in the newer areas mostly because we believe that there will be a higher percentage of people in our age group down there. I’m still having trouble with this site so I’m not sure if I answered everything, I will look back at your reply. I was worried at first that my wife also wouldn’t want to leave our adult daughter but once she saw TV she was all in.

Buy a house and rent it out. you won't get any better return for your investment. It's the only way I say is worth it is if you don't have a mortgage on the rental.
