My friend who believes Nike has taken a moral stand re Kaepernick is obviously not a business person. Nike’s decision to use Kaepernick as their spokesperson was strictly a business decision: old, white conservatives do not buy Nike products – young, left wing, black people do. Does anyone seriously think Nike would put their billion dollar business at risk? They may be bold, but they are not stupid. If you still believe Nike is a company making a moral stand, then check out their labor issues? They have and continue to exploit their workers. They claim to have improved working conditions, etc. but they still use sweatshop labor and pay less than living wages. Don’t believe me – Google it.
