    You might want to do this yourself. What you want to use is called rottenstone. Rottenstone is a very fine powdered abrasive. You should be able to find it at a place that sells finishing supplies. It should be inexpensive ???? like $3.00 a pound. You take a cloth dip it in water and then into the powder. Will will produce a fairly high gloss polish to the finish. If, you use finishing oil or wax with the rottenstone you will get a less glossy finish. As to the tips. Far as I know they are threaded on and so are replaceable parts. Do not buy pumice as even the finest pumice will quickly rub through the remaining finish.
