As a side note, my 48 volt club car is not solar, but I can make a loop from St. Charles/Bailey trail to Brownwood, Brownwood to Rohan, Rohan to Lake Sumter Landing, Lake /Sumter Landing to Seabreeze Rec. Ctr., Seabreeze to St. Charles 4 times without any loss in speed. My car is 5 years old with the original batteries.

You can go solar with an electric golf cart. I would suggest a 48 volt golf cart with solar panels that generate about 200 watts at about 25 amps total. You will still have to plug your golf cart in after extended use at the end of the day, but during use the day the solar will keep the charges up on the batteries. The load ratings will depend on the type of motor you choose, passengers/cargo, cloudy as compared to sunny days... the list goes on! For a better reference, use the internet and look at some of the solar sections on the RV sites. The information there is beyond compare. Some of the RV units can stay "off the grid" for years.

There is nothing wrong with a battery operated cart especially if you are full time in The Villages and get your cart out of the "hot" garage in the summer ona regular basis. Since we are north during the summer, gas works for us. When we become "frogs", I will revisit the type of cart---maybe one of each. I like the quite electric when golfing.
