Water Volleyball for the inexperienced
Some of us "newbies" to The Villages and to the sport of water volleyball have had a fun time at Savannah Sports Pool. You can note in the Recreation News that play is classified as "Organized Basic". And, that's just what it is. It is nicely organized and the style of play is for those who want to learn the game. You "serve" the ball by tossing it over the net; NOT by serving it overhand like in traditional volleyball.
Come out and enjoy. The water is heated to about 80 degrees and EVERYONE plays. Here's the schedule: Tu-Wd-Th-Sat - 2:50pm to 4:50pm Su-Mo-Fr - 11:50am to 1:50pm. Try it and benefit from your amenity fee and benefit for your health. |

Salybow, I, too, went to Savannah Sports pool to play water volleyball. It was GREAT fun and easy to learn. I think lots of folks are missing out if they haven't tried this, yet. Come on folks it's a good two hours of exercise and getting to know other Villagers. Just arrive on time and get into the water. Teams are chosen by different "captains" each day. Everyone is welcomed, and experienced players understand that newbies are learning. They have good advice for anyone willing to learn. Although this video is from Arizona, it gives a good example of the type of play in Savannah Sports pool. Check it out:'

The nice weather has arrived and the folks at Savannah Sports Pool are looking for additional water volleyball players. The level of play is 'BASIC' and that means easy play. No need to hand serve. Just toss the ball over the net on the serve to the opposing team. Check the times on the original posting of this thread. ALL ARE WELCOMED. Other pools are for the more advanced and are termed "entermediate". As noted, this is BASIC play for newbies and those who are less experienced.
