Hey JohnN, I think I have 2 points as my picks were:
Atlanta at Arizona .................ARIZONA is the homer
Indianapolis at San Diego.........INDY
Baltimore at Miami..................MIAMI (just another sharp stick in the eye
for the Jets)
Philadephia at Minnesota.........PHILLY(get real

Week 2 I'll go with
CAROLINA
PHILLY
SAN DIEGO
BALTIMORE

JohnN 01-06-2009 12:01 PM

aln, got it.
as another noted above, I made some posting/copy & paste errors.
I've corrected my spreadsheet format so it shouldn't happen again.
I did have you down in my details with the two points. My apology, bud.

zcaveman 01-06-2009 12:21 PM

Carolina over Arizona
Giants over Eagles
Pittsburgh over San Diego
Baltimore over Tennessee

TallerTrees 01-06-2009 03:44 PM

Well, this one was tough only in that I am picking Pittsburgh over my Chargers.

Here are my picks:

Carolina over Arizona
Giants over Philly
Pittsburgh over San Diego
Baltimore over Tennessee

JohnN 01-06-2009 05:15 PM

Taller Trees, I like San Diego's chances, I'm pondering that one a bit

ijusluvit 01-06-2009 11:00 PM

Arizona
Giants
San Diego
Baltimore

go ahead, laugh

chuckinca 01-06-2009 11:53 PM

Ha ha ha ! ! !

Carolina over Arizona
Giants over Eagles
Steelers over Chargers
Tennessee over Baltimore

villages07 01-07-2009 06:55 AM

Picks

Well, after a horrendous week one (picking 3 visiting teams), I'm switching to more home teams this week.

Carolina
New York Giants
Pittsburgh
Baltimore (defense) beats Tenn Titans

Thanks for doing this JohnN!!!

JohnN 01-07-2009 10:24 AM

ijusluvit , I don't laugh at anyone but myself during these types of contests.

Alex 01-07-2009 11:24 AM

Week 2 -- A new strategy...

Since I had a great week of prognostication last weekend (1 - 3) I have decided to use a more detailed system for this upcoming round:

After careful thought (and after being mocked by John for my "dog-squat" system), I have decided to take into account the thermodynamics of gravitational systems, probability distribution, symmetry breaking in quantum mechanics, as well as taking into account the spectral actions of the Aharonov Bohm phase from self-adjointness chaotic spectral statistics.

This is going to take some time, so I will submit my picks later in the week.

:undecided:

ijusluvit 01-07-2009 10:26 PM

Alex

Don't dump the dog-squat system. It's got it all over that other stuff!

Coconuts 01-07-2009 10:33 PM

Carolina Giants San Diego Baltimore

JohnN 01-08-2009 11:36 AM

Alex, well, I was 1-3 after comprehensive analysis reading, study, forecasting and prayer, so at least the dog squat method is cheap and simple and yields comparable results. So while I may have mocked, I was wrong.
My dog and I are going to come up with this weeks results really soon, and probably 1-3 again, consistency proves the model.

JohnN 01-09-2009 09:15 AM

My dog refused to cooperate, so I flipped a coin,
disregarded that and chose my teams. So I expect another 1-3 week, but I don't know which one I got right.

Carolina, Pitt, NYG, Balt

Alex 01-09-2009 03:36 PM

Picks

Dog's are like that, John. But as soon as you turn your back...

After careful deliberation:

Baltimore Ravens
Carolina Panthers
NY Giants
San Diego Chargers

You see, I was picturing a giant with a lightning bolt in one hand and his other hand was holding a panther by the scruff of the neck, and he had a raven on his shoulder.

But then it could have been a titan with an eagle in one hand and a hunk of hot steel in the other with a cardinal on his shoulder.

Or maybe it was just a bad reoccurring LSD trip from the 60's....

Indy-Guy 01-09-2009 05:12 PM

OK here we go again!

Tennessee
New York
Pitsburgh
Carolina

JohnN 01-10-2009 12:57 PM

Game Day, good luck all, especially those that picked the same teams I did.

JohnN 01-10-2009 10:23 PM

ijusluvit,
I don't think anyone's laughing , bud. Arizona, you're the only one to pick 'em.
Impressive, let's head to Vegas

zcaveman 01-10-2009 11:06 PM

Werner was one of my fantasy QBs and he got me a lot of points while Romo was out. Unfortunately, the Cardinal's dismal record on the East coast kept from picking them. But I an glad that they are winning.

Probably the easier team for my Giants to beat in the finale.

Taltarzac 01-11-2009 09:39 AM

Seems like I picked the wrong two underdog teams.

Maybe this weekend will be one when only the underdog teams win but I doubt it. That said, I may wind up going 0-4 with this week's picks but I will keep with Philly over the Giants and San Diego over Pittsburgh.

The home audience has not been too happy so far this weekend. Perhaps, today is a good day to go see Marley and Me rather than watching my picks go down.

aln 01-11-2009 10:47 AM

ARIZONA ?
I would have thought Detroit had a better chance !

CONGRATS to A L L those that picked 'em.

GO PHILLY

:pepper2: :pepper2: :pepper2: :pepper2:

zcaveman 01-11-2009 04:19 PM

Three underdogs in and one to go. Let;'s see if the Steelers can break the pattern!!!

samhass 01-11-2009 04:28 PM

Great Game Eagles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeeeeeee hawwwwww!

JohnN 01-11-2009 05:39 PM

kinda like playing the market so far (for me),
win a few, lose a lot more

JohnN 01-11-2009 07:17 PM

28-10 Pitt, with 13 minutes, Rivers sacked,
I'm making the call for Pittsburgh, I can always change it

ijusluvit 01-11-2009 10:10 PM

Holy Cow John!

That uncanny college team curse you use almost worked for the NFL.

Keep working on it and they'll BAN you from Vegas.

(thanx again for picking Oklahoma)

JohnN 01-12-2009 10:35 AM

ijusluvit - it's a gift, (picking the wrong team) that's why I don't wager.

Week 3 - 3 points per game:

Baltimore vs. Pittsburgh
Philly vs. Arizona

whoever leads after this week just has to pick the Super Bowl winner to win this little contest. good luck all

schotzyb 01-12-2009 12:40 PM

2008 NFL Playoff pickem

Got to stay with the two Pa. teams; Pittsburgh& Philly.

JohnN 01-12-2009 01:43 PM

Arizona and Baltimore

*looks up at schotzyb", well, given my record, you're a winner!

MelZ 01-12-2009 03:51 PM

Hopefully my accuracy is increasing

anyway:

Arizona
Pittsburgh

Taltarzac 01-12-2009 04:01 PM

Going with the Eagles and the Steelers this time.

I would love to see an all PA Superbowl so I am betting on the two PA teams even if no money is involved.

Philly over Arizona.
Pittsburgh over Baltimore.

I make plenty of mistakes (daily) so my apology

JohnN 01-12-2009 09:14 PM

chuckinca 01-12-2009 10:32 PM

TY TY TY ! ! !

Pittsburg

Cards

ejp52 01-13-2009 06:09 AM

Pittsburgh
Philly
:beer3:

zcaveman 01-13-2009 08:29 AM

I am going to have to go with:

Pittsburgh over Baltimore
Philadelphia over Arizona

aln 01-13-2009 02:13 PM

I too would love to see an all PA superbowl. It would be good for tv, it would be good for PA and it would be good for the cities......... but

PHILLY will beat the Cards

and

BALTIMORE will beat the Steelers.

sorry...

Actually I'm surprised the odds on the Eagles/Cards is so close (3 pts Eagles win)
and the odds on Ravens/Steelers is so far (6 pts Ravens win).

JohnN 01-13-2009 06:55 PM

aln, I just checked yahoo, they have Philly and Pitt as the favorites from the sports betting lines,

Phil by 3-1/2 to 4
Pitt by 6
