My son is stationed in Watertown NY {Ft Drum} and he is to be depolyed to the Middle East for approx. 9 mos. The problem now is that he needs someone to watch his one year old Belgium Malinois for these 9 months. Any information please email me at pn25793@aol.com or call 352-350-2169 Thanks

I think you mean Belgian Maliniois. My daughter has one. They are very smart and powerful dogs. A person caring for one would need to understand how the dog is trained and their commands. They are great watch dogs and are also used in the military for many purposes. being able to control the dog is important, it takes someone kind, firm and consistent.

Some sites your son can check out:

petsforpatriots.org

Dogsondeployment.org

Guardian Angels for Soldier's Pet – Supporting our Military, Veterans and their Beloved Pets since 2005.

These organizations all assist in finding foster homes for our military’s pets.

Jane is 100% right about this breed. They are very smart, very powerful and high energy. There are a few breeds that I am very cautious around. The Belgian Malanois is very high on that list. They can be very protective and territorial.

I wish your son the best.

Also www.trustedhousesitters.com

We use them when we go away to our beach place every summer. People from all over the world want to come live at your home in exchange for dog sitting. No money exchanged. As the homeowner, you pay your bills for your home such as electricity and water. The dog sitters buy their own food and maintain your home. $100 to register. A fabulous service.
