Recommend you don't buy until you have used a few different paddles first - many players carry older paddles and would probably let you try one for a few games.

I wouldn't buy one until I got the feel of it first - can't do that from an on line source.

The store on 466 in the shopping mall up from ace hardware and the grocery store has demos you can sign out (might be deposit ). Guy at LSL also has demos.

As suggested depending on how strong stroke you have lighter or heavier paddle may favor you style of play. If you demo some note the weight so you will have idea if you like light or heavy paddle. After that what you get use to playing with. As old tennis coach once told me it's not the racket that makes the player, it's the stroke that makes the player.

Also, they have a scale at the softball store. Their selection of paddles has grown in the last couple of years.

Softball's R Game on hwy 466 in the Southern Trace shopping center has a great selection of paddles. They also have demo paddles you try for Free. They are knowledgable and current have a coupon for $ 5.00 off a paddle.

I wanted to correct a post about buying paddles on Amazon. Their prices are the same as the paddles sold on vendor nites at Sumter Landing. If you ever do find a lower price they will honor it. They are the experts when it comes to buying a paddle.
