Excuse my jaded sense of humor,
but I thought this was something about a male and female pair of egrets
Whew!

Oh my! Such an indelicate title for this thread.

Perhaps it could be called "Egret in Love." -- That's what he told her I bet.

The Great Egret became the symbol of the National Audubon Society. In the late 1800s birds were hunted for their feathers. Feathers were popular in the design of ladies' hats. Populations of egrets had been hit hard by the plume hunters. And then, along came the Audubon Society to give us our birds back.

"Hats Off to Audubon" is an article from the archives of their magazine. It was a group of Boston society women who started the movement to save birds from being killed for the hat trade.

I am linking the article here for birders among us or for anyone who might be interested in learning more about the history of protecting our birds.

You're welcome,
Laurie Clavin

Heritage

So anyway -- nice shot, Larbud. Do you think he bought her dinner first?
