I had pair nest in my bushes for last 5 years. I noticed cardinal chick leave the nest real early. I have also noticed out of two or three hatching usually one may survive. I don’t know it it’s from starvation, cool nights, or predator. I put grapes out for them as alternative food choice. I also have Carolina wrens which face same problems.
