Silly as it may seem, I was walking my dog and getting my mail when 3 Queen Palm branches flew off of a tree. One hit me in the foot cutting my toes and just misses my dog. Some of those branches are heavy!

Which goes to show us, don’t listen to the broadcasters, they told us that it was a major Hurricane, kept telling us 24/7.
I no longer watch news unless it’s a major issue and then, I make my own mind about it. These folks are propagandizing news and enhancing their content. Journalism died with Cronkite, Huntley, Brinkley etc!!!!

Agree, newscasters over-hyped this storm. Do no recall anyone forecasting a Major Hurricane(3 or higher). It was very briefly a 1 near the Tampa Bay area.

Reminds me of the DC Earthquake, several years back...

I was sitting in my chair in northern MA looking out the window and watched the building sway just slightly, and announced that we just had an earthquake. .

it was quite wide felt

That area isn’t known for earth tremors/earthquakes, is it?

I was standing actually very close to the White House, just having come out of a meeting nearby, when the DC earthquake hit. It was a bit jolting because it was so unexpected. The east coast in general not known for quakes.

at first I wondered if a bomb had gone off in the metro (which I was directly over), but when I saw people start streaming out of the buildings within 30-45 seconds, it was apparent. The ground shook for maybe 6 or 7 seconds? I was never panicked...its just unexpected in DC...the epicenter however was in rural Virginia some 90 miles away.

Not really. But when they do happen, they travel far due to the granite underground that transfers the vibration. The "DC" earthquake was actually centered some miles away in VA, but was felt from the Carolinas up thru New England...

Think of it like hitting an iron bar. Not much movement in the rigid bar, but you can feel the vibration all along the bar...

As opposed to the CA earthquakes, which are much more centered with lots of ground motion, causing much more damage...
