Default Mangrove, Sweetgum, & Egret 9 after Irma

Here is a flyover of the Mangrove and Sweetgum and part of the Egret 9 golf courses on Tuesday after Irma come through. Water levels were very high.

The Villages - Irma Flooding of Golf Courses - YouTube

This is the same courses taken on Sunday morning, 5 days later, water levels have dropped considerably as can be seen by the debris lines around the water.

YouTube

Each video is about 10 minutes long. If you've played these courses you can see it will be a while before were back out on them again.

Thanks for the videos. Quite impressive and informative. Sad to see the extent of flooding and its long term effects.

Another thanks for posting these videos. Wow, that's a lot of water. I'm not a golfer, but any guess as to when these courses will be in playing condition?

Tterrible flooding and that's not all.
The debris covered by the water is a real mess, too.

Our lawn had lots of debris that is still being picked up. Some have had up to thirty bags just on a regular lot. Pretty sure it's going to be truck loads of debris on golf courses. I expected the pond behind us to end of in our house, but it didn't. Every time I see one of these storms it so hard to watch people shoveling out mud from their homes. Still feel lucky only few shingles in the yard and branches.

Severe Weather Recovery - UPDATED 9/18/2017
As the District continues to assess damages caused by Hurricane Irma, we are happy to announce that almost all facilities are now open.* As the safety of residents of The Villages community and District staff remain our top priority, please understand that storm recovery and clean-up will remain an ongoing process.*
•*Irrigation will continue to run along common areas and roadways to lower the water levels in water retention areas.* You may also see water being emptied through fire hydrants as we attempt to lower water levels.*
•*Please continue to avoid all unnecessary potable water use in your home as it must be treated at the sewer treatment plants.* This includes flushing toilets, running washing machines, etc.* This effluent waste water must be treated at the sewer plants and it is important that we reserve capacity and energy to provide a faster recovery.* This conservation also assists us with the storage limitation issue now associated with this treated reclaimed water.*

Recreation Information
•*The following recreation centers are still closed:* Moyer and Hilltop.
•*All swimming pools have re-opened.
•*The following areas will remain closed until further notice:
o*Paradise Dog Park

Community Watch & Gate Information
•*Community Watch placed the gate arms back on the staffed gates on Wednesday, September 13th.* Due to the amount of large trucks and equipment traveling the community to remove debris, gate arms will NOT be added back to un-staffed gates.* If you approach a gate where the gate arm has been removed, please use extreme caution and make sure to stop before proceeding.

Golf Information
•*All golf courses will remain closed until further notice.* The courses will be evaluated daily and we will provide additional information as it is available.*
•*For your safety, please do not walk on any of the golf courses as there is still a lot of debris and dangerous areas.* Your safety comes first!
•*Men’s & Ladies Days are cancelled for Tuesday, September 19th and Wednesday, September 20th.

We will continue to post updates and information as they become available.* Facilities will only be re-opened after it has been determined that the area and facilities are safe to do so.* We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience.* Please continue to check Village Community Development Districts for additional updates and information.*
Information Provided by Lady Lake Police Department
Post storm, temporary, escorted golf cart access to cross 27/441 at Boone Gate was provided to residents whose only mode of transportation was a golf cart.* The sole purpose was to safely, and legally, enable those residents to obtain essential supplies as an emergency relief when no other option was available.** The temporary escorted access is no longer being provided.* Florida State Statutes prohibit golf carts from crossing 27/441.* Crossing a highway is illegal and unsafe.** Please remember that if an emergency exists you can call 911 for assistance.*
Debris Removal
As the District continues to assess the community for storm related damages, debris removal is scheduled to begin throughout The Villages along both the roadways and from residential property.*
All storm related yard debris should be placed curbside on residential property, but not in roadways.* Please do NOT place debris in plastic bags.* It may be un-bagged or in paper biodegradable bags.*
To allow residents adequate time to assess needs and prepare debris on their personal property, debris removal is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 15, 2017.* The debris hauler, CrowderGulf, will pick up debris in marked vehicles beginning at 7:00 a.m. and will work until approximately 7:30 p.m. When stacking debris, please use caution to avoid any electrical boxes or water meters.*
In a community the size of The Villages, please understand that this process will take time.* Once CrowderGulf has serviced your area, you will resume yard waste collection on your normally scheduled day.* Normal yard waste collection service will not resume in your area until it has been serviced by the debris hauler, CrowderGulf.**
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the District Customer Service Center at (352) 753-4508.

Looking to do some more this weekend - Belle Glade and Evans Prairie, all 27 holes of each, both are a little more tricky because they will require almost a completely autonomous flight plan for distances I've not tried before.
Flights are unfortunately delayed until the weekends because of work.
