Pets and Their Food Fetishes

What odd things do your dogs, cats, birds like to eat? Our cat Fletcher looooooooooved olive juice (don't ask me to explain how I found that out). Another went for pickle juice--preferably sweet.

Queenie the Cat, any kind of cookie you offered (or she stole).

Crosby the golden is Ca-RAZY for lettuce, the crunchy parts. Not a good catch, he can nevertheless nab a piece on the fly like nobody's business.

His other fetish is raw asparagus. Other crunchy things, not so much.

What about yours?

Winston likes the crispy worms on the sidewalk :mmmm:

Our cats refuse to eat any people food except some deli chicken and will not eat any pet food bought with a coupon or in any way not the most expensive.

It is most annoying but we live to serve.

Mine loves sushi.

Years ago I had a dog who loved broccoli and arugula. He'd grab it and take off running. Like I wanted it back?

Sam loves when I cook (which isn't often) and will sit in the kitchen at my feet the whole time. He knows that when I'm chopping, 50% of it lands on the floor and he's my vacuum. He'll eat anything that falls, garlic, onions, potatoes, zucchini, even broccoli (well, maybe not broccoli) but its gone in a NY second. On the other hand, Maggie Mae doesn't have a clue what to do with any people food unless she can steal it off the table. If you hand it to her, she just stares at it.

I once had a schnauzer who used to sneak up on my drink of Scotch & water, and lap up the drink and get drunk. I couldn't break her of the habit, she just loved it. I know that wasn't smart, but she was a happy drunk dawg...

:1rotfl::1rotfl: I love it. A 12-step program for schnauzers.

A bagel fetish

Our friend Jenny loves bagel dog bones from a local bakery. She literally runs down into the basement (our Sunday morning spot) when it is time for her dog bone, and she tracks the bag holding the dog bone until the bone is given to her.

Wait... There was a shop in Muskegon that sold those. It's a bagel store; can't remember the name.

Piper our shih tzu/bichon won't eat anything green. She loves blueberries, carrots, apples and popcorn.

Years ago I did have a german shepherd that loved pancakes, only if they had syrup on them.

Back during some war food rationing, my parents' dog ate a pound of butter and then threw it up in the yard.

I had a cat that loved mushrooms. I could chop any meat, even chicken, with no reaction from her. The second I washed the shrooms, she was in the sink (knew the counter was a no-no) waiting for her chance to steal one. She was in kitty heaven if I happened to drop one or two while chopping them.

Shrooms... a flower-child cat!

Back to Queenie the Cookie Cat. She was the meanest cat. But she could be bought. You would pick her up and she would yell, "I HATE YOU! Got any cookies?"

jblum315 06-03-2014 05:13 AM

My cat Simba loved gingersnaps. No other cookies. Agatha adored shrimp shells, not the shrimp.

Many Many years ago I had a dog that I removed from a abuser.
He weighed about 85 pounds. Alex.
You could not leave a beer unattended around him.
