"I Fought the Law"
|
ABSOLUTELY!!
:pepper2: |
Fun video with gun toting go go dancers. And then they all died in the end. It was like MTV and the NRA all in one.
|
Was this clip from Shindig or Hootennany (sic)?

Listening to it in the garage on a CD. Along with the Swingin' Medallions.... Double Shot (Of My Baby's Love). Great tunes

I was 20 when the Bobby Fuller Four version was released. You might be interested in learning more about this post-Buddy Holly Crickets song here: I Fought The Law

Tal, I listened to this while my husband was in another room reading. Three hours later the song is still running through his mind!

Sonny Curtis
Absolutely. I even remember hearing it when Sonny Curtis first wrote it in the late 1950's. Hanging out over at the Allison's house across the street from us, I got to hear many of the songs before they were even recorded by them or anyone else. (Jerry Allison is the Crickets drummer.)
Sonny was a kid from a little town called Meadow, TX and grew up in Slaton, TX. He and Buddy Holly and The Crickets all hung out together and wrote songs together in Lubbock when their careers were first taking off. They played some of their gigs at the local roller rink. He lives in the Nashville area (they all do) and still tours with The Crickets. Really fun guy who idolized Chet Atkins. Saturday night and all activity and talk stopped while Chet Atkins was featured on The Grand Ole Opry radio broadcast. There really were "zip guns" back in the 50's that he wrote about in this song. The song has been recorded by many, many artists including Sonny, although he wasn't the first to record it. Lots of fun times and memories of growing up with all of those guys in Lubbock. |
Look at those dancers out of control due to that driving rock n roll boogie woogie beat.
What ever happened to those dancers? |
