Someone warned me that a cop was lying in wait.
Yesterday, while travelling on Belle Meade Circle, I received a courtesy warning....flashed headlights...that a speed check was up ahead. I found myself conflicted by this occurrence. I want speeders to be caught and ticketed, but on the other hand I appreciated the warning...even though I wasn't speeding. I never warn people like this. Am I a bad person? OK, I know I am a bad person, but what I mean is, does this make me a badder person?
What would you do? |
Really depends where I am. On the highway, I'll nearly always warn others, especially truckers. On city streets, not so much. I'll be the first to admit that I have a serious lead foot and if I'm pulled over, I take my lumps. But there are areas where I won't speed such as near schools and playgrounds. On BV and Morse, I think I'd let folks take their lumps.

Nope. To each his own. I warn if I feel the cop is being extra sneaky like hiding behind a sign or whatever. Some States it is against the law by the way to do so. Don't know about Florida.

In some states flashing a warning can get you a ticket. I don't think Florida is one of them.

Chi town is right, warning someone can get you a tx in some states. I no longer do this.

Because it is called a speeding trapped I do give drivers a heads up (lights up). In my view it slows them all up which is what the trap's overall intent is to do. When it comes to this issue I respect LOE for doing their jobs and understand it done in the name of safety. On the other hand when I view that LOE is being overzealous and over eager then I really draw the line. |
There is a reason why police do very little patrolling these days.
Patrolling does not pay anything! |
I speed
I don't give warnings and don't like the practice. I do inadvertently speed from time to time (advertently some time). I have had probably 4 speeding tickets in 60 years of driving. If I get caught speeding I deserve to be fined and would not fight the charge.
Why would we want it to be otherwise??? |

aiding and assisting speeders makes no sense to me.
They KNOW they are speeding and have decided to do so at the risk of being caught. There is always an isolated sad tale of somebody who should not have been tickedted for a variety of reasons....ISOLATED. The majority are knowingly deciding to drive above the speed limit. I can see no reason what so ever to assist someone who is breaking the law. Book 'em Danno!!!! |
Ticket Them
No use me repeating a correct thread by the former post.
of "billethkid" do not assist law breakers... whats the point in that? I might add.. its less on the tax payer if law enforcement is not using gasoline or adding vehicle miles... keep bringing up the savings accounts its OK with me... less taxes on the population.. and the right ones are paying the bills! |
Do cops give other cops tickets for driving violations?
Do all incidents of speeding deserve the same punishment? Are all speed limits valid? My view is that some of the speed limits in The Villages are too low. It is no wonder drivers get inpatient. To add insult to injury we have some drivers here who drop well below the speed limit and some who intentionally block traffic behind them to keep other drivers moving at their slow pace. |

If you don't like people giving warnings because you want speeders to be caught, you could give the flasher the finger. :police: |
