Multimodal striping not dead

Read on the other news online that another engineering study taking place from the same firm that done the others. So looks like some kind of standard stripping on all the paths may be in the works?

IMO they so need to address the halogen cart lights that blind on coming traffic which IMO more of hazard than no strips. If I can't see nothing all the strips, markers not going to make different?

Striping. We already went through stripping and found it to be illegal.

I think what I read was the engineering firm was to recommend where and how certain parts of the MMPs could have "enhanced markings" to improve safety in those areas. Medians and trickier parts were mentioned.

That's great news!

Thank you. I can only stand so much stripping before dinner.

If it weren't for folks like you we would be going around with a lot more incorrect information.

I have this nice plaque with a lot of virtues carved into it and one of my favorites is

DISPEL RUMORS.

Doesn't the edging between the multi-modal path and the grass's edge define the path's line? Even driving on multi-modals paths before sunrise and after sunset the grass's edge clearly outlines the path width . I do agree that there are some angles on the path where reflectors are beneficial in dividing the path lanes of travel but that has to do with dividing the lane in the middle to keep cart drivers in their proper lane of travel. Side stripping is a waste of money and I believe what is driving this is politics and nothing else...that and nonsense about liability issues. So if we need stripping then I am going demand better lighting on all multi-modla paths. I also want better signage warning me of hazards ahead such as the puddling of water of low spots on the paths and tunnels directions, and while were at it signs informing me that pedestrians are in the area as well as cyclists. Further I want neon signs erected above the pathways to alert me both of heavy traffic and approx travel time on the pathway due to traffic/construction problems and further........... Ialso suggest that The Village publish a monthly report of the safest and riskiest times of the day to be driving on the multi-modal pathways

Couldn't the villagers in favor just add running boards with stripes on top?

If the stripes were also on the bottom there is a chance the reflection off the MMP might also be helpful.

Better yet, widen the MMPs to 160 feet, 8 lanes in each direction. Three cart lanes: One for legal driving, one for speeders and one for drunks. Two bike lanes: one for normal cycling and one for those who want to "own the lane". Two pedestrian lanes: One for walkers and one for joggers. And one handicap lane for power mobility devices. Then, between center and side striping there would be 9 lines in each direction. Don't forget the markings to designate the lanes. Intersections would be interesting---how about a 9 lane RB---with 18 crossovers and a whole new bunch of driving rules.:a20:

Dog gone rubicon - excellent ideas. And I'd be willing, along with thousands of others, to see our monthly fees increased by at least $100 in support.
:) :)

The sad part is---we do this on highways. I'd love to know what each one of those useless electronic signs, the ones that tell you 3 hour old news, cost.
In an older thread I added up the cost of those little every 1/10 mile markers and it was in the billions.

Makes me tired just thinking of counting that high. How old were you when you started.?
