Roundabouts and Gates

This is not intended to be a nasty post. This is a plea for common sense. And, please think about this and maybe it will save someone sadness, hurt or maybe someone's life.
Please people, the roundabouts are a circle. If you miss your exit, just go around again. You cannot go through another car safely. Golf cart drivers-why would you try to speed through or across a gate to beat out a car? You know you cannot win in that collision. What is your hurry? When there is a great deal of traffic, it is not easy to see everything. Take your time. When you are in your car and you stop at the gate to allow a golf cart to pass, make sure there is no one behind you! It just creates more confusion. Follow the rules. Just use common sense and drive your vehicle safely so that we may all continue to enjoy The Villages Lifestyle. (Pleading over)

Sorry... you are asking for too much! ;)

True, it has all been said before but let's just keep saying it over and over again. It's funny how I am never guilty of these things but others are. LOL.

You really can't say it too much. Not 20 min. ago another "driver" got in the right lane of a RB and went 3/4 around. I gave him about 150 feet of leeway.

I guess the o.p. doesn't know he/she should have filed a petition for approval of what he/she posts, from some overseer here.

:agree::agree: in addition just as a precaution I strongly advise that a sign be posted at each roundabout: "Do not crash into other vehicles." 😝. (For those of you who don't know I'm being sarcastic...well I am.)

I said this before but these roundabouts are to small diameter to be used the proper way. Anyone from Mass will tell you that. Some of those are three lanes and more. And while on this subject does anyone know what a solid white line means. I really dont think so. Not in a roundabout anyway.

Just don't ever go into a roundabout side-by-side with another vehicle; I learned that in the short time we were here for our Lifestyle visit last year.

Maybe they missed their turn...

Had this happen at glenview entry. I stopped at south side in my golf cart, clear, due to the street drain I couldn't floor the gas pedal due to the bump. By the time I got to the center speeder was out of the roundabout. So I had to stop in the middle. Now another car was too close to try to cross. So I waited. The car stopped rolled down the window said you know there stop sign over there. I said YES, and I stopped at it long before you come along and if you would move I might able to get across before another car pops around the courier without using a blinker light. Course other cart drivers was honking there horns at the car stopped in the cart crossing.

Also, once you've entered a roundabout, don't stop your car to read a map. Tuesday I was northbound on Bailey's Trail and wanted to go north on Buena Vista. I entered the traffic cirle in the left lane since I was going to the third exit. About halfway around a car entered into the right lane from Odell parallel to me. I slowed to make sure he didn't T-bone me as I exited. That's when he stopped his car in the roundabout and starting looking down in his lap, apparently at a map or GPS. I made my exit and hope not to see him again.

My simple solution:
Treat a roundabout EXACTLY like an intersection. Approach in the right lane then you can turn right or go straight, approach in the left lane then you can turn left or go straight.

They are not going to be made larger.

Don't start confusing folks with common sense!

Next, you'll be telling us how much safer RAB's are, compared to intersections...

With so many fatalities in our RAB's, I can't understand how the developer can let them remain...
