Periodically Sumter County has an electronics recycling day, I think over the summer.

Best Buy takes electronics for recycling at no charge.

Best Buy takes all electronic devices for recycling. Even tube type TVs.
Just drop it off at the front door. Skip |

CWguy,
Thanks for the link, I did not have time to look it up. VT |
We put a printer out front today to see if trash pickup would take it and they did.

Word of Caution!!
A close friend of mine had a shelf fall on her computer tower (PC) and it stopped working, It was older so she decided to replace it with a MAC. She took the tower to BEST BUY to recycle. They assured her they would wipe the memory and there would be no security issues. 2 yrs later she got a call from a guy in Southern Calif. who said he dealt in used computer parts and ended up with all her info, photos, banking info etc. BEST BUY did NOT wipe the memory and her stuff was all out there. Luckily this was an honest guy and called her to ask if her address was the same so that he could return the parts with sensitive information to her. He did return the parts. She went back to BEST BUY with the parts and suddenly they were writing her a check for $1,000 and pleading with her not to sue them. TRUE STORY. Cross my heart! If you choose to recycle anything with anyone (BEST BUY IN PARTICULAR) be sure you have removed all sensitive information. This shouldn't be a problem with a DVR, but I have heard that PRINTERS do have a memory chip and documents you copy can be reproduced from the memory chip in the printer. Scary stuff, since most of us print sensitive information. Be very careful with the security of your electronics. Even the old stuff! |
Ha! It was.

The VHA is sponsoring another electric recycle event Feb 20 at Winn-Dixie parking lot at Lake Sumter Landing. The one we had last year was very well attended.
