Priority points and too many points
 

Can someone explain these point systems I saw in a thread? Thanks!

You get a tee time and play = 1 point / cancel reservation up to 1 day prior = 2 points / cancel day of play = 3 points.
Points go away after 1 week. The requests are pulled first by Priority residents then by non-priority residents. Within these requirements requests with the fewest points pull first over higher points . If you play in a group the average of all players points determine the groups status when the reservation is assigned. If I have totally confused you contact the tee time office for additional confusion

What is a priority resident vs. non-priority?

The only thing I would add is the priority memberships apply only to the Championship courses, not the Executives.

OR, if you want to really know and understand the system, attend the good golf school. I think it should be mandatory for ALL golfers before they are allowed to request a t-time.

Highly advisable for many, especially newbs? Definitely.

But required for all? I'm glad it's not.

I also would like to say that the point system is a very fair and brilliant idea.


None of the taking over the best tee times by the old guard. No hint of gender preference. If you make a tee time and don't show up, you are docked, but just for a week. I think it is fair, fair, fair. Our group was only shut out once this past year. I have never heard of a single golfer not able to play if he/she isn't asking for a specific time or a specific course.


BUT.....golf here is not like the country club golf you may be leaving. It takes a little getting used to.

I golfed with the Quail Ridge group twice last winter. But after the second round, I was told that I golfed too much and my point count was too high. Fun while it lasted.

The average point count for the group matters, a lot. I play in a friday group where some players with high point counts for the week are excluded otherwise the tee time request will be denied, and nobody plays. If the average point count for the group approaches 3 you may have difficulty getting a tee time on the executive courses during snowbird season.

The following are tips to getting tee times, in no particular order:

1) Low average point count
2) No guests
3) Broad time window
4) Lots of courses

Your high count only lasts for ONE week, then you have a clean slate again................ I am really thinking I am misunderstanding your post.

The points roll off each week but if he is playing the same amount of times each week he will have the same point total each week.

To add to this, one thing that folks miss unless they have read the tee time manual is it matters 'who you are' more than how much you play. These are placement points.

Golfing in The Villages

On executives the rankings are:

1. Resident
2. Resident guest

4 residents who have an average of 10 points each will get a tee time request filled BEFORE 3 residents and one guest that have ZERO points.

On championships the rankings are:

1. Priority
2. Priority guest
3. Resident
4. Resident guest

3 priority members and 1 priority guest who have an average of 10 points each will get a tee time request filled before 3 priority members and 1 resident that have ZERO points.

Ranking a priority guest ahead of someone that owns a home seems wrong on the surface, I suspect they do this to sell priority memberships creating a guaranteed cash flow...

It's really pretty simple---having trouble getting a tee time----be more flexible. We all can't play at 10:00 on XYZ Course.
