Snowbird Question about Clubs
We visited TV briefly a couple of times over the last few years to see it and look around.
We are still considering our long-term retirement location alternatives. Right now, we are in a mode of "Look Before You Leap". We are interested in understanding TV better. If we snowbird in TV, are the clubs/activities openly available to snowbirds? How does that aspect of TV work for snowbirds? For example; If my wife wanted to attend Tai Chi activities (A Club), would she just "Show Up" at the appointed time... or does she have to go through some sort of process to be able to attend? |
It depends on the club and its collective personality. You can expect anything between a red carpet welcome and a shunning.

As long as you have a Villages ID you will generally just show up. Some classes/clubs may need a phone call to the organizer - details can be found in the weekly rec guide. Some of the clubs/classes can get busy during snowbird season so you may need to show up a bit early for the class.

I hope you can move past this mode, remember "He who hesitates is lost". Just do it! Most of us wished we had become Villages sooner rather than later. |
There are over 2,000 clubs in TV, so there is no answer for all of them. The Village of Virginia Trace has a homepage, see link below, with links to 250+ clubs, the other clubs you can search using google and if they have a homepage it should come up.

Every Thursday (for now...) a copy of Rec News is included in the Daily Sun. Some clubs require membership; only a few clubs require nominal dues--most are free; club memberships are sometimes limited by the legal room capacity of the venue where they meet.
When looking at Rec News, it is important to remember that it only includes info for clubs meeting THAT WEEK. So if your club only meets monthly, you may not see the notice. You can also browse clubs and activities on this site. Click on the tab above that says "Clubs and Activities." There is also often a contact. Call them! Welcome! |
