Chappaquiddick (2018)

Chappaquiddick (2018) - Rotten Tomatoes

Interesting movie. Hope this does not get political. Ted Kennedy does not look very good in this movie.

Kate Mara does a good job as Mary Jo Kopechne Kate Mara - Rotten Tomatoes as do the various actors playing Ted Kennedy and his friends and advisors. Jason Clarke - Rotten Tomatoes

I'm from MA and everyone thought at the time that if it had been anybody else, they would have been prosecuted. Very sad for the Kopechne family.

This is a movie I plan to see.

Ted’s insurance carrier paid them $141,000 but I heard the Kennedys paid the Kopechnes $50,000 as well. The Kopechnes refused to have her body exhumed for an autopsy although some blood was taken from her and she had been drinking alcohol.

I always wondered if she might have been pregnant by Ted. The house she shared with some female roommates on R Street was like a shrine to the Kennedys. Loaded with Kennedy memorabilia in china cabinets. They were literally Kennedy Groupies for Bobby especially. A couple worked for Bobby for free as volunteers if I recall correctly.

OP: Do you recommend seeing the movie? Appreciate your comments.

Yes. It is well acted and asks some very interesting questions.

What interesting questions does it ask?

We went to see it and decided it was not going to change anybody's mind whether you liked or didn't like the "Kennedy clan". My opinion is that it was produced strictly for the commercial value because of our nation's interest in the Kennedys and their sad history. Perhaps it may be more interesting to younger people who didn't live through that era. ----IMHO --Ted Kennedy "didn't look very good" in the movie, because the original version wasn't good, but had lots of "power".

Was Mary Jo still alive and grasping for air for a period in which she could have been saved had Ted Kennedy reported the accident sooner?

What did Joseph Kennedy. Sr., really think of Ted Kennedy?

Were Mary Jo and Ted Kennedy having an affair? Ted Kennedy's wife seemed to think so.

Good questions!

Thanks! I remember Joan drank like a fish. She staggered noticeably much of the time.

An autopsy could have shed some light on how Mary Jo suffered dying. Shudder!

The movie has the Kennedy clan's clean up team doing quite a job hiding the facts about how Mary Jo Kopechne died. Fixers were used quite a bit.

I wish I had a clean up team.

They seem to be quite expensive and politically connected. Ted Kennedy's team seemed to be the group that the Kennedy clan would call upon when they had problems. According to the movie anyway.

I just need someone to do the dishes and vacuum.
