Dr Jordahl leaving The Villages Health?

A neighbor told me Dr. Jordahl is leaving the Villages Health sometime in December. Does anyone know any details? He is wonderful and caring doctor. I will be sad to see him go.

Why not just call the doctor or the office directly?

Is he your primary care physician? If so, you should step away from the computer and call his office.

So true. Call the Health Center and then come back and tell us.

Is he or she older? People, even doctors, do retire.

Unfortunately it is true. Moving back to where he grew up.

The Mulberry Grove care center is also losing 2 of it's best to retirement and re location. Dr's Wald and Sattrlee. They will both be greatly missed.

Dr. Jordahl and his family are moving back to Michigan, where they came from. Everyone who has had any contact with him is sorry to see him go. He is a wonderful doctor, the kind we need more of here in our area.
Dr. Jordahl's wife, Jennifer, is a Nurse Practitioner, also working for The Villages Health. She has already moved back to Michigan - going early to get their children settled in school. Dr. Jordahl will follow in December.
Best wishes. All of us here in Florida wish him happiness. Our loss is Michigan's gain.

Why shouldn't a doctor leaving a practice do the professional courtesy of notifying his patients by letter? Why should it be the patients' responsibility to somehow find out his doctor is leaving and then have to call his office to verify it?

We're customers, not cattle.

He is leaving in December? This is September. Perhaps he is going to send a letter next month? We have just joined the Villages Health Care. We were given a choice of two physicians that had openings.

But if everybody knows, wouldn't it be professional to tell his clients before it is public knowledge?

I am always willing to give a person a break , but I would be PO'd if my primary physician decided to quit in Dec and did not notify me by now. After all, I would then have to find a new primary. Hopefully, the primary would be helping you find a replacement.

I talked to someone at The Villages Health about this. Many TVH patients have an appointment with their physician every 6 months. Doctors at TVH are asked to give 6 months notice so they can personally tell their patients that they are leaving and then recommend a new physician. So... instead of a letter, they try to tell their patients face-to-face. For the patients that won't have an appointment before the physician leaves, they will get a letter but will have the opportunity to come in and meet with the physician that is leaving to talk about their new doctor.

Hmmm Villagers asked to leave by Villages Health Care = 15,000
Doctors leaving =8
Yes sad to see good doctors leave but what about all the "good patients" that got their "termination" letter after many years with the Villages Health Care?

THe fact is, The Villages Health couldn't sustain their model by accepting the reimbursement rates of most insurance companies. Those "good patients" didn't have insurance that reimbursed enough to sustain the model that the Villages is trying to build. The Villages has a model where yearly or every 6 mo. patient appointments are 30 or 60 minutes, being able to see a PA or Nurse practitioner same day. You can't have that with reimbursement rates of most insurance companies. And you're not going to attract physicians if you have the "revolving door" model of most facilities (revolving door because they have to make a profit).
