Howdy, live in a Marathon style home that has a small entry way. Would like to install screens and a screen door where this is not one now. Does anyone sell the extruded alum rails / screen kits for DIYers?

Check with White Aluminum to compare the difference of them doing it or doing it yourself. They were pretty reasonable on my enclosure which has a seating area which the cat uses to get a different glimpse of life around.

I did exactly what you are think about on a gardenia style home, I used whites Aluminum, 441 Leesburg. At the time (just after Irma) there was very little screening around, and I had to wait a week or 2 for screening. As noted above, get ARC approval before you start your project. Also, be careful about the door opening.

Both Lowe's and Home Depot carry screen doors plus everything you'd need to make your own screens. Making larger screens is maybe not a beginner's project, but it's not rocket science either.

Why not an invisible screen I’ve had one on 3 of the homes I had here much better look then a screen door it doesn’t cover up your main door only use it when you need it

Who did you use?

Just my two cents. After having a retractable screen for the last 7 years, I wish I had installed a traditional storm door, with the top section that slides down to allow the top half to either be screen or glass. That way the front door could be open in the fall/winter months, allowing more light.

If you’re considering a traditional storm door, which doesn’t sound like you are, I’d recommend a Larson Tradewinds Fullview model. I’ve installed four of them for customers. Very well made and durable.
