tool for placing donuts on sprinkler heads
 

hello. we are in the village of bradford and looking for someone close who may have the tool needed to dig the hole for placing the donuts around the sprinkler heads. we are using the concrete ones, so i am not sure if there is a difference between the tool needed to do concrete versus plastic. thanks!

I had no idea you needed a special tool to dig a depression to fit a donut for the sprinkler system. Can't you just use a garden trowel?

I suggest you buy your own from Lowes or Home Depot. I say that because you will need to use that same tool every few months to keep the rings clear of grass over growth. The tools are not very expensive and if you have your own you won't have to continuously trying to borrow one from someone in the future. I have to use ours every 3 - 4 months. And I believe all the ones they sell fit over the concrete rings and will cut the grass root runners as you turn the tool. Just a suggestion. Welcome to The Villages.

Yep, buy one or I use an axe to cut around mine it leaves a nice edge for trimming later with just shears. If you are going to live here and do your own work you need your own tools not your neighbors.

Maybe you can be a good neighbor and shop for the best, most reliable tool and pass that information along to the OP.

Hmmmm, 3 or 4 times per year I remove every donut, clear the area all around where it sets, and then replace it making sure it centered, level and the correct height. I didn't realize there was a special tool, I just use my hands and then give them a good washing when finished.

You probably don't have St. Augustine grass, you have to cut the runners back.

We have Floratam grass, which is a hybrid type of St. Augustine. It was developed as a joint venture by University of Florida and Texas A&M, hence the name. I just pull the runners up by hand rather than cutting them back.
