Security Systems in TV

Does anyone have a recommendation for a security system in TV, i.e, ADT, etc.?

The best security systems in the TV are the inquisitive neighbors.

We currently use ADT in our Alabama home and have for over 15 years. They are GREAT!. We are in the process of getting ADT also installed in our TV Villa.

Golfnut, we've used ABAD for years. Works great. Never a problem during a power failure either. Also is a great foot warmer.

i categorize security services in the villages with hidden cops and radar guns for golf carts. both are unnecessary!

How much does it cost for the installation of a basic system with doors, windows etc. (perimeter) alarms that CYV neighbors could hear? And about how much is monitoring per month?

Besides ABAD (A Big A$$ Dog), or ADT, a good deterent for a CYV is to plant sticker bushes along your exterior walls! :22yikes:

Motion Activated Lights work well, too.

With ADT you can get deals where installation is free or $99.00. We pay $29.00 a month which includes a service agreement that if we need service it is free.
You do not get an outside alarm, inside only and system calls for help.

Does the ADT system use a wireless phone or a LAN line?

Have had alarm systems in the past and they all called for help without any problems since they have battery backups. Three problems though. All calls were not the result of burglaries but rather equipment problems. Neighbors never reacted to the sound of the alarm other than to get annoyed by it and police took about 15 minutes to respond as home alarms were not a priority due to so many false alarms.

We found a more effective security system. It is called Two Yapping Yorkies. Now we know if an insect enters the house or a bird lands on a tree. I have yet to find another security system that licks your face when you come home.

Also, does one need to get a permit with TV to have an alarm like yours?

Army Guy 10-07-2010 06:35 AM

joanne, that I am not sure of. I think just land, and that is what we have in Alabama, but I have heard they can now use some type cell arrangement. That is one reason we have not put in our TV Villa, yet. Will probably have installed though this Fall.
One of the things I also like is they even monitor your battery conditions in the devises. They will call you and tell you when they see one is low, so you don't even have to worry about that, as they will even change it for you. They pretty much take care of everything.
No permit etc is needed, as everything is inside. They do a great job of installing the devises also. We have the wireless which I highly recommend.

I am sure that the technology exists that you can install cameras inside and outside a home and see what is going on from afar.

You know, like Skype?

Someone is going to tell me that they have them.

Yup, those kind of cameras exist. Here's more info on remote viewing security cameras:

But, what can you do if you are far from home??? Best to get cameras that use a DVR to record the activity.
