House is being rented, and our VillagesIDs are forfeited

OK, following the rules, all is fine.

We are visiting local friends from MA who also bought in TV, so evidently, we have to register as guests. . . is that correct?

just making sure that we are interpreting the rules correctly?

... I misread the initial question, call a rec center and ask them.

Topspinmo 11-27-2023 09:13 PM

Are they renting out their house or you? If so you or them probably gave up you iDs for renters? So in that case yes you would be guest If that’s legal? Which sure it is with all the clauses in rules?

Bill14564 11-27-2023 09:50 PM

Logically, this makes sense. Since you gave up your IDs for those who are renting your home, you would need Guest IDs to use the amenities.

Two potential problems:
1. An individual with a local address cannot get a guest ID. If your only address is your Villages address then that would be an issue.

2. The ID system knows your name and birthdate for your regular IDs. It *could* flag an attempt to obtain a guest ID for someone who has already been issued a regular ID.

Easy enough to call the Rec Center or Customer Service to ask the question.

So you are a resident of TV and you are visiting another resident of TV and you want to know if you need a guest pass? Really?

Using OSINT on TV, you might come to that conclusion. We are slumlords of TV, having bought in 2019, closed in 2020, with the house being rented in an LLC, not AIRBnB, with IDs forfeited as per TV requirements, so we are not residents of TV technically, hopefully in a little more than a year. We live in MA, and friends of ours also in MA, who told us about TV, have bought in TV, and we, the slumlords, are visiting the friends in TV who are not renting their house out, and are snowbirds currently.

Got it? basically trying to comply with the TV surveillance protocols.

Then check with ID services......not rely on TOTV opinions!

CoachKandSportsguy 11-28-2023 08:59 AM

And the answer is :
Guest pass USING YOUR OUT OF STATE ADDRESS with your OUT OF STATE DRIVERS LICENSE

called the rec center and took about 3 minutes to find a person with the correct answer

Apparently, you would be surprised at how many ToTV posters have real-world experience rather than just opinions.

You are responding to the poster who doesn’t care if NON Villagers use our amenities. He/she does not want to have to show “zee papers”.

Good advice. Since the OP also has a legal residence up north, that address can be used to get guest ID’s. That being said, point number two above could still be an issue. The other bummer is that even though you are a resident, using a guest ID will not get you resident benefits such as free executive golf (trail fees aside), resident Championship golf rates, or use of the sports pools. But I guess that’s the cost of surrendering your resident ID’s so your tenants (I won’t call you a slumlord if you have responsible, over 55, long term tenants) can get resident ID’s.

Called customer service and got the answer as yes, use your out of state license,
then got a call back from the same rec center to call the district management office
then called them explained the scenario and they said yes the first time,
and then final answer is flat out

NO!

Another phone call to see if we can use the championship golf courses as an out of state resident, and the answer is YES! , but we pay full price.

So I guess we golf championship only unless we purchase fake driver's licenses, or I use my parents ID with inserted pictures. . though the picture to age upper 90's might be a problem. .

I think if the tv show "Person of Interest" is to air again, they should use TV as the setting where seniors are the people threatened. . . their surveillance system is top notch!

Just curious, why rent home in an LLC? Is that a vehicle that limits your personal liability, especially if you include a golf cart with the rental? If you stop renting the home, is it easy to dissolve the LLC and convert ownership to yourself and Coach K?
