Coleman Minimum Security Satellite Camp

Read in Daily Sun Saturday Feb 22, that at the minimum-security satellite Camp Facility at Coleman a Male "was discovered missing" on Friday.

Thats comforting to know that he is missing. Perhaps he is checking out the area.

Would be more comforting to hear that after a brief time he was located.

Wonder what the definition of minimum security is?

Thanks for the input. Modified the Post. A Male. I have a hard time using the term Boy for a 60 year old.

Or very far, far away. Can’t imagine someone would walk out of camp, and hide just a few miles from Coleman.

Hopefully

It all depends on timing and his immediate needs for the escapee.

Bet they improve security to prevent another escape

Couple in 2022, and 2024, so not the first

^ Agree.

Walking away is not usually done on a whim. The consequences of your almost-over prison sentence being converted to inside higher security and a new added felony (escape) are severe. Normally I've seen this happen when a strong emotional factor comes into play, like the ex is getting married, parent died, or girlfriend is moving on and he's ****ed (angry) about it. They don't normally care if their kid is sick, sadly.

More often than not, they've called someone to meet them somewhere after a day or two to come get them. That, or they are enroute to the source of the emotional factor. Not always, just more times than not. Locked, loaded, and alert are your best defenses. That and some bright yard lights.

Did not see any follow-up in the paper today. May be that he wandered back to Colman.

Here we are in a community surrounding one of The Federal Governments largest prisons (Perhaps 6000 or more detainees) and. Ho-Hum, by the way 1 is missing. Why report the missing prisoner if there is no follow up? We get better communication if Fido or Tabby wanders away.

BOP: Federal Prisons.

Minimum security institutions, also known as Federal Prison Camps (FPCs), have dormitory housing, a relatively low staff-to-inmate ratio, and limited or no perimeter fencing. These institutions are work- and program-oriented.

A number of BOP institutions have a small, minimum security camp adjacent to the main facility. These camps, often referred to as Satellite Prison Camps (SCPs), provide inmate labor to the main institution and to off-site work programs.

The Coleman camp houses non-violent federal inmates from the Southern Eastern U.S. who are charged with Federal Crimes and convicted in U.S. District Court mainly of Embezzlement; Bank, Wire, Insurance, Mail, Mortgage, Loan, Tax and Securities Fraud.

Mr. hustle Pete Rose was in a similar camp at Marion, IL. Walking away is pretty dumb.

2022 was the last prison escape Mob Assassin

New York mob assassin escapes from federal custody in Florida

Ya, it only happens once in a while from the actual main Coleman prison complex. The last barbed wire escapee was a hit man from the mob back in 2022. A fella by the name of Dominic Taddeo.

Except it didn't happen at all in the incident you cited. I highly doubt there was any barbed wire around the halfway house where Taddeo was residing or the medical facility from where he disappeared.
