Oil Change

Did a search on TOTV, did not see an answer:

Is there anywhere reputable around here (including nearby outside bubble) to get an oil change for under $50?

What planet are you from?
The 49.95 oil change left the building years ago with Elvis.

The newer cars don’t need oil change ( usually) 8,000 miles or twice a year. My dealer charges less than $100 including tire rotation and the usual 20 point check. No, up charging or I won’t purchase there again and they know that. Several Threads on tire and oil changes you can check them out here on TOTV.

Check with Walmart

The most recent recommendations from individuals rebuilding engines suggest if you plan to keep the car over 80,000 mi, changing the oil & filter at 5,000 miles, particularly for smaller (2L) and any turbocharged vehicles.

This is due to the high turbo temperatures and smaller oil passages in those engines.

To the OP, Sumter Tire seemed popular in previous threads.

Worry first that you have an honest repair shop.

Toyota recommends we change our synthetic oil every 10,000 miles but since we plan to keep out car for at least 100,000 miles normally do it at 5000.

I change it when the car tells me too. Always Mobile 1 full synthetic and a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner at each change. 1.4L turbo, 245,000 miles, runs great.

Last oil change 6 months ago UpNorth was $35. So I guess I'm from Earth, maybe just not Florida, Earth.

All the threads I searched were more about oil change intervals, not cost.

Walmart is good.
I watch for sales on their oil and filter to save a few $$$.
Store them at home, then have them change the oil whenever it's time.

That's pretty much what you'd expect to pay for just the oil and filter at your local big box store.

The last time we had Wildwood tire change our oil it was $60. Our new car came with a maintenance package so it gets changed for "free" now.

Sorry, that $50 will not even cover the cost of full synthetic oil and a new filter. As noted above many new (or newer) cars recommend oil changes at around 10,000 miles, much longer than the old regular oil at 3000 to 5000 miles.
I use Wildwood tire, and they are cost competitive.

We had our ICE car, 2015 Mercedes, now have an EV and love it. But while we had the MB I did not want to cheap-out and every oil change was with Amsoil full synthetic. The best out there. Had it changed every year even if we did not drive 10 k miles. Peace of mind. Since the car was very expensive we wanted assurance the the lube system would be the best. Our last change, about Oct 2024 was $115. But glad we did that while owning the car, as the new owner knows how well we took care of it. Pays off. IMO

Yes, do it yourself. 5 quarts of Mobil 1 is around $28 (less $10 if they are offering a rebate) and a good quality oil filter is about $10. So, $38 (maybe $28).

Only way you’re going to get below 49 dollar oil change do it yourself. Other wise pay the piper and hope he does it right and good job? Plenty of oil change threads it you do simple search on TOTVs.

For my newer car I go to the dealer where oil changes were included with the purchase price. For my older cars I go to "Take 5" which is chain with four locations near the villages on 27. So it is very convenient. I don't know if I'd call it reputable, its basically high school kids changing your oil, but they seem to do fine. Its more than $50 though. They have various coupons and specials that can get the advertised price down, but in reality the cost is usually around $125....and more if you want Mobil 1.
