Second home - guest ids question
I have second home in The Villages. I want to let friends and relatives use it when we are not
in TV. Can I get guest ids for friends/relatives to use amenities/play golf while we are not present in the Villages? |
Go to this website for the rules. The main restriction is that non-relatives who reside in Lake, Sumter, or Marion counties cannot get a guest ID. Some relatives are exempt from this rule.

Ask yourself this question: Do you want to be that neighbor, who just gives free access of the house and all the amenities to friends and family in a residential (not resort, not vacation, not time-share) community, without you even being there? |

Easy peasy, go to the Villages CDD website and find the tab for guest ID’s. Have your guests name, DOB, and home address handy and fill out the application for guest ID’s. When filling out the application there will be a selection for where you want to have the ID’s picked up. Select the regional recreation center that offers the service closest to your home. When your guests show up to pick up their ID’s, make sure they have identification with them that matches what you put on the application. The CDD website isn’t very user friendly, but after ordering ID’s a couple times it gets east. Best of luck.

They can’t live “ too close” to The Villages, and they are allowed 30 days a year with a guest pass.
You can suspend your privilege as many renters stay longer and there are no restrictions that I am aware of. |
OP not enough info to get a good answer. Are your guests local, out of town? Anyone under age 19 (30 day stay per year).
Sometimes free use with friends and relatives can become a problem , not keeping your home as you would. You won’t really know until a problem arises that make you want to distance yourself. Charge a small fee for cleaning, and use of the home, and hire a home watch to check after visiting. Our parents always had free access. Close Friend was a one and done, that cost us $500 to repair, damage that was never mentioned or admitted. |
WRONG… I’ve inquired about this many times. When filling out the application if your guest lives in Marion, Sumter, or Lake County, which is verified by the address on the application, they are not allowed to use our amenities. Guests are required to also carry their license with them in order to verify that the address listed on the application matches the address on their license. Once again, if your guest’s permanent home is in Marion, Lake or Sumter County. They are not allowed to get guest passes whether you are here or not. In order to get a guest pass they must have a ZIP Code that’s outside those three counties. I am sure there are people that fabricate addresses however, if they get caught, you will as the permanent resident of TV have your privileges suspended so decide if you want to take that risk.

Since they asked specifically about golf, can a guest golf on an executive course without a resident accompanying them?
(for most of the amenities, a guest can come and go as they please but golf could be different just as sports pools are different) |
