Hearing
There is an ad in today's Village Sun from Audible Hearing Centers about a micro computer chip implant. Does anyone have any experience with this product, please comment.

In the meantime, let me be the first to say that some of us have micro chips but are unsure of the origin. The last thing we remember is driving down a dark country road....... :loco: |

Cute!

I don't think they are talking about anything radically new. In the last few years most new hearing aids have microchips. My new ones can do some amazing things. When i pick up the telephone, the hearing aids (I wear two) automatically become stereo, so even though I have the phone to one ear, I hear the conversation in both ears. My aids are also blue tooth so I can talk on my cell phone or watch tv and hear the amplified sound through my hearing aids. If you do discover that there is some new breakthrough technology, please post! I would love to learn about it.

Would someone please recommend a dealership for hearing aids? I am new to TV, but have no idea of where to go.

Do not go to Audible - they are not that good of a company
I wasted alot of time with them and they fitted me with the wrong hearing aides, so I went elsewhere and I'm much happier!! |
I use the Lake County Hearing Clinic on Bichara and am very happy with my aids.

An audiologist is a professional, usually with a doctorate degree (AuD) although some have a masters degree. A hearing aid dispenser requires a high school diploma and must be 18 years old. There is some training required but certainly no a degree. Getting the proper hearing aid and having it fitted correctly is crucial. Follow up adjustments are routinely required and must be done correctly. A hearing aid dispenser's job is to sell hearing aids. I've known many, many people over the years who were improperly fitted and paid way too much for hearing aids which don't help. An improperly fitted hearing aid can even make hearing more difficult. These expensive hearing instruments often end up in drawer. |

When shopping for hearing aids be sure to begin with a visit to a certified audiologist. They can correctly guide you to the best hearing aid for you as everyone's hearing loss and needs are different. I have begun my journey with Paige Holt at Lake ENT. She comes highly recommended on TOTV. She is very knowledgable, personable, and honest. She will not try to "upsell" you or use other marketing ploys. She is only after your best interests and having you obtain the best hearing possible.
