Would like to visit and check out tv for 3 or 4 weeks in march, don't need a house, just a room and bath..
I am a 68 year old single male, non smoker, love to play golf, cards, and want to learn pickleball..

Just what we need boarding houses. Not!

Not that I know of...there is always Marriot Suites, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and the Waterfront Inn.

I would not be so negitive of such a request. This man just wants a room for awhile and maybe there are some folks that would really enjoy a visitor.

I don't think I was being negative, I really don't know of any, but I do know that the hotels I mentioned do have single rooms (as opposed to a whole house).

Welcome Steve,

January to March are pretty much up to capacity. If you could move your travel plans to April or later you can snatch a monthly rental at a very reasonable price. That way you would have your own golf cart and all the golf you want to play. Hope you have a great visit.

There is still the question of getting a pass to play on the executive courses or use the pickleball facilities or any other amenities. If you rent a room, the renter would have to get you a guest pass. If you stays at a hotel I do not think they get you guest passes. At least I hope not as that would be going against the guest process as far as I am concerned.

I like the rent a house or villa route. You will have all of the amenities of a regular villager while staying here.

A long time ago, I remember seeing an ad online in the Daily Sun for someone who was renting a room with the guest pass included. It was probably a very rare offer.

If your schedule is more flexible, I would agree that your best shot is to rent a home in April that has a golf cart and guest pass so you can fully enjoy TV experience.

Best wishes in your search.

Keep your eye on the Craigslists in both Orlando and Ocala; there are often listings for rooms to rent in The Villages under Housing. Check out Rooms/Shared and Sublets/Temporary. I'm certain that the people offering these accommodations are are aware that renters will want and need access to all amenities.

I hope that this is helpful. Good Luck!

Be very. very careful of answering Craigslists. People have been robbed and even murdered

There is a difference between renting a room and having guest privileges, and, renting a residence and having resident privileges. I overheard an unhappy exchange at a starter shack yesterday. I don't know the details but they were very unhappy when they had to come up with cash to play executive golf. Do some research before finalizing.

I think it would be very difficult to allow a stranger into my home to live or rent or whatever.

I don't mean to be mean, rji4072, but I think you would be better off to wait and take a lifestyle visit and rent your own place with a golf cart. You get amenities and a chance to play golf as a villager and enough time to see if you like it here. Times will open up in the springtime.

Even if you were invited to stay with someone, you still wouldn't have a golf cart and if you rented one, you may not have a place to park it in their garage. It is very difficult to rent golf carts here to play golf. It isn't like the courses you are used to. Carts are NOT available at all of the courses, Just championship ones.

And...There you would be..staying out late dancing until nine thirty or so and most of us are abed by eight. You would come in late like that and wake your landlords up...don't cha know???? ;)

Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn???

redwitch 01-30-2012 05:33 AM

Gracie, some of us do manage to stay up well past 9:00 pm. lol However, that being said, the idea of having a stranger use my home as his/her hotel room just doesn't feel right.
