Why are there so many advertisements on the forums now? It is very annoying. My Video Life Story is on every page!!

I use AdBlock Plus with Google Chrome. I don't see any ads. I believe AdBlock Plus also works with Firefox and Internet Explorer.

The site is FREE and our model is that is will always remain FREE and to have advertisers support the cost. There are countless hours spent maintaining it by the owners and contracted specialist. We thank everyone for their support and for considering the local businesses in The Villages for any of the services or products they have.

Seriously? What don't you understand about a "free" site. Do you think the owners spend thousands of dollars and countless hours to maintain the site with no source of income? The ads are there and don't really impede on your ability to post or read posts on the site, and provide you with a forum to voice your opinion and learn about this great community.

I don't mind the advertisements on the page. I understand that's how the forum makes their money.

What I had trouble with was opening up the page and EVERY thread was a separate thread for a coupon for different things. I didn't count them, but it appears that several people did and there were seventeen. SEVENTEEN??? REALLY???

OK... OK.... I know the Admin is going to take issue with me on this...

If every advertiser wrote 17 posts, they would take over TOTV and turn most people off. I can see it now...All separate posts:

Also... I've never been on a forum that charged it's members. They all make money with their advertising. But 17 threads? 17 topics??? Seriously!

I do see the advertising and I do/will use these people... but I didn't open the threads! I found them annoying.

The Original post was about advertisements, not posts by advertisers. There is a big distinction between the two. I posted to support the advertisers, but was not supporting the multiple posts by an advertiser.

I agree!!! I am hiring several people/companies advertised on this site. And to be honest, I wouldn't mind if someone wanted to put one post with ALL the coupons in it. But it was excessive to say the least.

I don't think everyone saw it, so you may not know what I'm referring to.

I saw them and had the same reaction. It was over the top!
