Hi,
Several months ago, I replied to similar message with the strongest recommendation for taking advantage of the rise in medical tourism, particularly in Costa Rica; only 3 hours from Orlando Int'l. Even if this isn't for you, please check out this website for comparison with your options here in U.S.

A couple of years ago I found I needed some implants (I already had some from when we lived up north). My dentist at the time, Adam Still, recommended Dr. Caylor. I am here to say I was more than happy with my experience with him. His "bedside manner" is excellant and he's very thorough on getting the best "fit" for the patient. I wouldn't go for "whose the cheapest"....but who gets the job done well.

I went online and googled Dr. Caylor's name. He has been "chief of staff" at the hospital (in his field) in Ocala. He has offices in Ocala and in Laural Manor here in T.V.

Dr Rosario 'installed' 3 implants for my wife and she was very pleased.

May I ask if you have used that service? thank you

NotGolfer 07-17-2012 08:45 AM

Unless you have unlimited funds....I'd not go out of the country to have this done. It's a process that can take up to a year. First the extraction of the "real" tooth, then healing time, then the implementation of the implant---more healing time. Then the actual placement of the "tooth" on the implant.

I had an infection (not related to the procedure) which I had to have the oral surgeon (Caylor) take care of. At first we weren't sure if it was the implant...but it turned out to be something else. I had to see him at least 2X for this...maybe 3.

If you go out of the country...factor in airline fees, hotel fees etc. In the long run it's not going to be an inexpensive endeavor!

Yes, I have personally used this service twice. I will pm if you like with details if you like. Basically, I had a complete restoration including 16 crowns and 7 implants. It's now over two years since then w no problems. As you can imagine, this was a life-changing experience to be able to eat right, look right and be healthy. Including air fare, lodging etc, easily 1/4 the cost here in US, and with much less time. Let me know if you want $$$ details.

Yes, on two visits. I had complete mouth restoration including 16 crowns and 7 implants. It's been over 2 years now w no problems. As you can imagine, this is a life-changing experience w better heating, better appearance and better overall health. If you would like, I can message you on details of the $$$$; and will tell you that, including air fare, lodging etc; probably 1/5 of estimates I got here in US; with much less seat time also. Let me know.

Trance, it sounds like you had a great experience. The problem is, what do you do if the outcome isn't that good? Did the doctor use your dental insurance (if you had it)...this would need to be counted. We have some European patients that went back to their native country for dental work because it was less costly...not when they had to pay there, then pay here to have the work done over. I am DEFINITLY not saying that we are the only country in the world to have good dentistry, I am only saying we have the ability here to check credentials, know which dental school the dentist went to, check through the state if there have been any complaints filed, get referrals from other patients and have legal recourse if there is any malpractice. When you go overseas you have none of these. I care way too much for my health to put it into the hands of someone when I don't have the ability to even check out the status of their license or even if they are licensed. I am really, really glad for you but in my opinion you took quite a risk.
