T. Weston's Smokehouse

:BigApplause:Today (September 17, 2013) made my way from The Villages Florida to the town of WildWood just down the road to get some smoked sandwiches take out for lunch. My wife Ann loves the food at T. Weston's Smokehouse located at 1210 N. Main St. in Wildwood.

Arrived at TWestons about 12:45 PM just as the lunch crowd was pouring in, the parking lot was half full as was the dining room. Since I was getting take out I sat in the bar area to have coffee while deciding what this hunter would be bagging and taking home for Ann and Me to eat.

As I sat down one of the waitresses (CJ) greeted me with a smile and ask if I wanted coffee. Since I eat at TWestons several times a week and get take out several times a week the friendly folks at TWestons sort of know what I drink and most of the time what I will order before I know...Smiles.

Today as I was drinking my coffee I decided on the Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich,Charbroiled Chicken Sandwich and the Barbecue Sampler with a side of Baked Beans. Have had this combination before and love it, just the right size, taste and cost for lunch.

Ann and I have had just about every thing on the TWestons menu and love it all. The cozy and friendly atmosphere along with the best food we have had in some time keeps us going back for lunch and dinner several times a week.

As always the Chef Tracey came by to say hey and ask how I and my wife were doing and provide some insight on what was going on with TWestons this week. Later the owner Aileen came by to chat and check on me and my wife Ann and see what we had been up to lately. As mentioned, all the folks at TWestons are friendly and want to know their customers and keep folks coming back to their smokehouse for a friendly atmosphere and Great Food.

The items I bagged for lunch today off the menu were:

Coffee-$1.50

Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich-$7.00
Served On A Kaiser Bun topped with Fresh Tomato & Iceberg Lettuce, Served With French Fries.

Charbroiled Chicken Sandwich-$8.00
Char-Broiled Chicken Breast Served Over A Kaiser Bun Topped With Lettuce, Tomato, Onions Served With French Fries.

Barbecue Sampler-$8.00-Chef's choice.

Baked Beans-$3.00

Ann and I have eaten at just about all the places you can eat at in and around The Villages Florida and WE feel TWestons has the best food and best price for what you order and let me tell you, when you order you get a lot of food and friendly service.

Ann and I posted the following about TWestons the after the first time we ate there so guess you could say we enjoy the food and service and continue to go back as well as tell others about our dining experience.

Ann and I (Bob) were on our way out to lunch today and for a change took the route through Wildwood to highway 301 and as we got to the bridge smelled something wonderful in the air. The smell of burning embers and BBQ filled the car as we saw the back of a small red building on the right with a sign, Open for business, Weston's Smoke House!

We turned onto the side street and pulled into the parking lot. Weston's is located across from the Wildwood Lion's facility, the parking area is small, the building looks inviting and lets you know real quick it is a Smoke House, lots of signs and of course you can smell the BBQ.

As we entered the smoke house we were greeted at the door by a smiling young lady who welcomed us and took us to a booth in the main dining area. Weston's is not a large place but has an entrance area, bar area, and dining room area with booths and tables. Dining room and bar had that home like feeling, quaint, cozy, just right, and was inviting.

Ann and I were there during the lunch menu and noticed lots of choices at good prices. Our choice today was a house salad, burger, and stuffed baked potato with Beer and Ice Tea.

Service was GREAT, food was just what you would expect from a BBQ place (GREAT) and the atmosphere was just right, not too many folks but enough to keep the place in business and keep the customers happy they did not have to stand in line for a table or wait for long period of time for waitress and food.

Weston's even has a web site Home - T. Weston's so you can check out the location (1200 N. Main St. Wildwood, FL 34785) and the menu as well as get a feel for the way the interior is set up.

Ann and I enjoyed Weston's and will be going back to try the rest of the lunch and dinner items.

Y'all should try Weston's Smoke House.:BigApplause:

Tried it. Hated it -- great service, awful food. Would much rather go to Burke's.

buzzy 09-17-2013 04:38 PM

It drives me nuts when people say some food was awful. What was wrong by your standards. Give me a clue.

I think that Burke's is too dry and tough.

Went to try T Westons yesterday, and found them closed. Will have to re-schedule to find out for myself.

We drove by Weston's around noon today and it sure did smell good! Next time we'll Do What Has To Be Done and chow down!

The meal I had at Weston's was awful. The meat was greasy and tasteless. They gave me mashed potatoes that resembled Elmer's Glue. That's about it.

My ribs were all fat, no meat. I'm more than willing to give a place another chance -- figure everyone has off days but really fatty ribs in a bbq house is, to me, unforgivable. The sides were okay.

Thanks, Redwich, I may be crazy, but I like my ribs with some fat. I'll have to see if it's too much for me. Also like the pulled pork very moist. Will take my wife, she thought that Burke's was OK. However, we don't care for the way Oakwood simmers the pulled pork in their sauce. Go figure.

Oakwood has the best ribs in the area. Their September Special is a full rack of ribs with two sides for $10.99 (Sunday - Wednesday). Cannot beat that deal and they are delicious!!

Well, here's my report on T Weston's, with apologies to Redwich.

My wife can eat no fat and I can eat no lean. She had the baby back ribs, I had the St. Louis style ribs. There is no entree sized sampler platter.

Baby backs were tender, moist and pretty meaty. Kind of mild taste, not very smokey in our judgement. Seemed rather pricey for BBQ. She can only eat a half rack, but it does not come that way.

St. Louis were quite fatty at the thick end, but overall too dry and tough on the bone. I had trouble both cutting and chewing. Served with dry rub and sauce on the side. Tasted pretty good, sauce not needed for me, kind of overpowering if it's not cooked on. The half rack was also pricey, and a full rack downright expensive. I just stopped eating after about 3/4 of my half rack.

A courteous server asked how we liked the meal, and I politely told her about the dryness. The owner (Aileen?) came over to check on my problem, and the chef (Tracey?) brought out a plate full of fresh ribs for me to taste or take home. I tried one, which was somewhat more moist than those on my serving. However I declined to take them home, because they would just go to waste, but thanked the owner for the offer. I guess they think I just don't know much about ribs.

We don't eat lunch out, so would not get to try all the items that the OP listed. I would like to go back to try the pulled pork, or the smoked prime rib, but somehow I don't think we will get around to it.

I completely disagree with Mr. Busby's opinion about how great Weston's is. I fully concur with those of you who did not like your experience. In fact, Mr. Busby's comments sound too much like a commercial for Weston's - sorry just my opinion. Our food quality was average and it is over priced for the area. We will be trying alternatives in the area.

It got some good write ups on yelp. I can't wait to give them a try.

Village Gourmet Club gives them an 8.5 which is nothing great.

We decided to try Weston's tonite and won't go back. Hubby ordered the brisket plate and even tho it was quite good, the serving was skimpy and we thought at $16.00 it was overpriced. I ordered the stuffed bake potato which I love at Texas Stockyards. It looked like it had been sitting all day long. Inside was dis colored and gluey and the toppings were scarce. Additionally, it was so noisy you couldn't carry on a conversation. Oh well, you can't please everyone but it's back to Texas Stockyards for us!

Not sure why folks like to post such bad comments about a place such as TWestons and others. Posting negative comments does not help the folks even though a negative those post can be used to fix problems, but as I have mentioned many times, my wife Ann and I enjoy TWestons and try to point out why we like TWestons. We know everyone has different taste and no matter how hard TWestons try's to make everyone happy, some folks will not be happy. When I am not happy with an eating establishment I just do not go back, but if I think they may change what I did not like, I let them know what I liked and did not like. Hoping folks will read reviews of eating establishments and then go try it them selves to see how they like it as compared to others who ate there...we need a variety of restaurants here in the area of The Villages, let the owners of those places know what you liked, what you did not like and maybe the owners will make changes if changes are needed, after all they are in business to make money and make US happy or they will be looking for work...The Life And Times Of Us Retired Folks.

I go to TWestons Twice a week, lunch and dinner and still enjoy it.
