Repbulican Debate

Hope all you Right Wing supporters don't forget the big Debate tonight. It will probably be funnier than watching SNL.:MOJE_whot:

Guest 05-05-2011 06:29 PM

Sure, I'll be watching. I'll tell you what will be funnier than SNL, I've made a little collection of links to posts with various comments from the left. After the 2012 elections, I'll make a little index of them. That will be fun reading.

Lib Talker: When Will Navy SEALs Take Out George W. Bush?

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vid...orge_bush.html

"Since President Barack Obama announced that “a small team of Americans” had killed Osama bin Laden, US government officials have carefully stuck to the line that they will not talk about which units were involved.

Obama did not say it was the SEALs. In numerous television appearances, Obama’s counter-terrorism chief John Brennan didn’t and his deputy national security adviser Denis McDonough didn’t. Despite the numerous news reports that named the SEALs, none of the anonymous briefers from the CIA and Pentagon would confirm it.

Here’s a typical response to a question about the SEALs from a senior defence official in a Pentagon briefing on Monday:

QUESTION: Can I ask you, can you confirm that it was a (Navy) SEAL team? And was this a specially designated team that had been practising or reviewing intelligence for a while and they were the unit of choice?

SENIOR DEFENCE OFFICIAL: Not going to comment on units or numbers.

But here’s what the legendarily verbose and loose-lipped Vice President Joe Biden said at a dinner at Washington’s Ritz Carlton Hotel last night to mark the 50th anniversary of the Atlantic Council:

Let me briefly acknowledge tonight’s distinguished honorees. Admiral James Stavridis is a, is the real deal. He can tell you more about and understands the incredible, the phenomenal, the just almost unbelievable capacity of his Navy SEALs and what they did last Sunday.

And:

Folks, I’d be remiss also if I didn’t say an extra word about the incredible events, extraordinary events of this past Sunday. As Vice President of the United States, as an American, I was in absolute awe of the capacity and dedication of the entire team, both the intelligence community, the CIA, the SEALs. It just was extraordinary.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/to...us-navy-seals/

"As the whole of America takes a bin Laden victory lap, let us pause to remember some of this celebrated event's most forgotten men: the Central Intelligence Agency officers who sit under the cloud of a criminal investigation begun in 2009 by Attorney General Eric Holder into their interrogations of captured terrorists.

That's right, the Americans whose interrogation of al Qaeda operatives may have put in motion the death of this mass murderer may themselves face prosecution by the country they were trying to protect.

It is time for the Holder CIA investigation to end. The death of bin Laden 10 years after 9/11 makes the Holder investigation of the CIA interrogators politically, emotionally and morally moot.

But it lives. "

I like Herman Cain myself. He's not afraid to say it plain and simple without worrying about clarifying himself to people who are not going to vote for him anyway.

I wish Alan West would declare. He's the man to make the liberals shake in their boots.

In your dreams. You have obviously never heard either of them speak.

Straight from the heart too, not some plastic see thru teleprompter.

A little something for you to lose sleep over.

How about Caribou Barbie reading her speech off the palm of her hand? She probably misspelled the words on her hand, too.

I thought it was hilarious to see that Barbie's daughter, Bristol, at 20 years old has had plastic surgery. She has had injections to make her lips fatter, a chin implant, and even botox. This is not a good signal to young girls in America.

I just listened to the clip of Alan West and it sounded very much like treason to me. He was inciting violence and overthrow of the government by force. This is the kind of talk that led to the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords.

There we go with the teleprompter BS again. Really, how stupid is that? I can't even put it in a courteous phrase. It's just plain moronic to think that using a teleprompter somehow diminishs what our President says, at least my President.

Guest 05-06-2011 04:11 PM

No kidding - Reagan used it all the time. And, to be fair, HE caught flak for it too.

Reagan never had to use it to address a 6th grade class. Even the democrats joke about how much Obama relies on it.

Right out of the "Rules for Radicals" playbook. Change the subject, and isolate.

Here is just a sample of when he goes off a malfuncting teleprompter.

He simply calls people names (I suppose this is to show his superiority) and also has to take the young family and poke fun...but they are not shallow with this stuff...they feel like they are cute !!!!

You just dont hear young girls mocked on political forums very much !

Basically he believes the underlying issues he talking about, but he sometimes posts in a way designed to annoy.

RICHIELION..let me ask you a question about your friend Bugs.....are you saying that going after a persons family is just meant to annoy ? Do I assume then that anyone can attack someones family and it is simply an ANNOYANCE and that is now deemed acceptable ? Are we to be understanding ?

I say "my friend" Bugs jocularly, but I don't dislike him. We don't agree on most things in the political spectrum, but for the most part he attacks our "icons" but doesn't attack us personally, unlike a few other rabid libs, and I'm OK with that. Sometimes it may be tasteless, but "what the hey".

Bugs and I have never met except for some sparring on this forum. It just seems to me that he purposefully tries to get conservative posters to lose their temper and thus minimize their impact in the debate.

(Sorry to be talking about you like you're not here Bugs, and hopefully I'm not grossly misrepresenting you)

I am sure you will be forgiven by Bugs, but my opinion...he has a pet name for a number of folks that he does not like or disagrees with....I suppose that is found to be cute...not by me for sure.

Example....CARIBOU BARBIE is what he calls ex Gov Palin. I suppose that is an little bit of cuteness and funnies speaking of where she was born and raised and perhaps her looks. Now....if that is just an annoyance and is not acceptable on this forum...where do we draw the line ? Take the same premise....birthplace, ethnicity, looks, etc and come up with pet names for folks that you don't like. Gee....where are we going with this.

I disagree with President Obama but NEVER EVER EVER called him a pet name....EVER even mentioned his family. Palin is not the only one that gets that treatment. He may think its is cute and funny....others also. I think it is a step in the wrong direction.

I, and I think you also, have been called a racist....haters....BUT IT IS OK to accept this kind of behavior? When did we say this was ok on here or other places. I cant even imagine me calling someone a name, cute or otherwise that dealt with place of birth, ethnicity, looks or anything like that AND FOR NO REASON can ever imagine any adult taking on the children of famous people.

Sorry...Richie...from my perspective this kind of thing is a trip down the wrong road...and is not simply an annoyance....those who feel comfortable in doing it are to me of questionable character.

Sorry for going on, but I have mentioned the little name calling before but once again we involve the children....who here would be comfortable with someone criticizing their children..no matter what they stood for politically or otherwise. To me, this is well over the line....sorry I cannot find this acceptable or simply annoying !

You know over the years I have defended this political forum when it was called rough and nasty....in here and on the general board....way back..when it started and was not private...and when it went private, I continually defended this forum. I have been here since it began, but if we now are to accept all of this name stuff and include the children now as simply annoying then perhaps my defense of this forum was way out of line !

Guest 05-06-2011 07:40 PM

I don't disagree with you at all. But almost anyone who reads this forum can see who's serious about the issues and knows what they're talking about, even if they themselves have a different opinion and reach different conclusions.

Does the person who writes about others with vehement disrespect make himself look smart or foolish? I guess to the other boys in the back of the classroom it seems cool, but the kids up front know what's going on.

Bucco, you need to take a Valium dude. You are taking this way too seriously. Nobody is going to make a twit's worth of difference in this thread. Nothing is going to change. No votes will change. Everyone is blowing smoke up everyone else's butts.

Richie, Thanks for the kind words. You and I seem to be kind of the same types of people - except on different political sides. I sure did get under Blue Heron's and Bucco's skin. As George W. would say, "Mission Accomplished".

Guys, take a chill pill like Xavier suggested you do. This is an open forum. Don't be taking things so seriously. Whatever you say is not going to have a profound amount of reality attached to it so just take a deep breath.

Anytime you want to get together at Gator's or anyplace for a cold beer, let me know. Yes, even you, Blue Heron are invited.

Folks today I have lost my taste for politics. I guess you can say that I have become disappointed and disillusioned with all pols. Politics has always been about who was better at playing the game of one-up-manship but it has gotten dirty and dirty each campaign year. there are no longer true statesmen wih the ability to debate with fairness and humor, or people of moral integrity, or people who inspire you or more importantly lines, all agree, should not be crossed. There is not in my opinion one incumbent or one candidate out there that leaves me with confidence that America is in good hands. So i have done my best to try and ignore as much of the rhetoric and focus on end results which i am finding is almost quite impossible. i have never been very good at cross word puzzles but perhaps now is a good time to learn. I hope not to feel this way tomorrow but...................

Guest 05-07-2011 08:25 AM

Well, it looks as though Bucco has declined the invite to Gator's for a peacemaking beer. Oh well, his loss.

I wish I could take credit for the name of Caribou Barbie. That has to go to Bill Mahr. He is one of the funniest political satirists ever.

The people, magazines, and political parties that I have called racists have all issued terrible racist statements such as the email cartoon of President Obama as the offspring of Chimpanzees. I hope you do not go along with them.

Even though Bucco says he is "outta here", I would take bets he will be heard from again - to our chagrin?

I haven't disagreed with anything you've said. All I was trying to convey is that what Bugs is posting is designed to anger you into responding to his insults instead of you sticking to the issues you're trying to bring to the surface of the discussion. I'm sorry his strategy, whether it was planned strategy or accidental, has succeeded in angering you to this degree.

I believe the majority of the rhetoric coming from the libs on this forum is confrontational because they have little defense or recourse when serious issues are debated. Because, for the serious liberal, they would have to defend a progressive political agenda which would cost them the majority of the support they have. It can also be that the libs are truly ignorant of the ramifications of the progressive agenda being rammed down the throat of America and that explains a lot. Liberal's arguments are about primarily on how they feel and not how they think. Libs think they're right because they "mean well", no matter the results of the agenda.

What can be the frame of mind of a person who thinks they are making a valid retort when what they're doing is mocking the poster, and mocking the issue, and mocking people mentioned or invented, without really debating the topic at hand, and then thinking they've actually made some sort of brilliant point?

I'm guilty of being angered by the "no think" arguments myself, at times, but I'm trying to control it because I've enjoyed being able get my thoughts and beliefs out there. whether in conversation or on this forum.
