4th Townsquare Theme.....what should it be??
Hawaiian??
Asian?? Military?? North pole?? Prison?? What would be a good theme??? |
Pleasing. Visually and functionally.
|
Asian sounds interesting but my first thought was Alpine or German.
|
As we are in the south, Confederate Army, there are lots of used statues in storage all over the south available for display however there is good chance it wouldn't be PC. Since this growth is taking over their habitat, maybe a Florida Wildlife theme, Panthers, Black Bears, Alligators, Key Deer, Armadillos, wild Boar, along with all the various birds found down here, etc. along with a tribute to the Native Americans that were here, would be interesting as well as educational.
|
Since it will probably be next to Disney World, how about Star Wars? lol
|
Maybe something in the Space Theme like Space X.

Margarataville! Can't believe we don't already have a square that is islandy and tropical already. Tiki hut bars, bright colors, lots of bamboo - you get the idea!
|
I like the Margaritaville idea!
|
Las Vegas-ish!
:duck: |
I would go for the Margaritaville idea, there is a lot that could be done with this.

Sin City!?!?!?!.........might be perfect. |
"SOUTHERN CHARM and HOSPITALITY".. Stage, white Greek columns, circular dome roof like the Jefferson Memorial, complete with surrounding Magnolia trees..Shopping store front facades, will be reminiscent, of old town Savannah,Ga. and Charleston, S.C...Movie theater facade, resembling a plantation mansion, again more magnolia trees.....Don't ask me how I know... : )
|
1960's San Francisco, sans hills.
Brownstones with art deco and victorian embellishments and crenelations, and wide stone archways over alley walkway entrances (the ones connecting rear parking lots to the main hubbubs). Colorful boutique store fronts and psychedelic font style facade signage, with a Grateful Dead rose on the backdrop of the water feature in the pedestrian-only section of the square. Peace love and crunchy granola! |
I have it on good authority, a friend of a neighbors cousin who heard it at a coffee shop from two workers discussing trucking options that it was going to be New Orleans Bourbon street themed.
|
It should reflect something nostalgic to most of us.
Mid century modern? |
By the time it's ever eventually built (IF it is), it will probably reflect something that is more in line with what people who were kids in the 70's/80's are familiar with...since those will be the ones retiring at that point.
Like maybe MTV, Star Wars...or even Disco? :D |

None of those would fit in to a Florida theme. I think a NASA space theme would be interesting. The whole square might look like something out of Back To The Future. Or even a Old Hollywood theme would have potential. We already have a Bacall Rec Center with a Humprey Bogart inside there.
|
We have that already at Lake Sumter. That square is base on Key West. Spanish Springs is base on St. Augustine and the fountain of youth.
|
How does Alpine or Asian fit into a Florida theme?

I believe they know exactly where it will be built, when it will be built, and what the theme will be.

Of course they do. |

New Orleans
I think a New Orleans theme with a large riverboat that times a would move around the " square" with nightly music would be cool. The shops and restaurants could be located on a " Riverwalk. You could have a Martigra party regularly!
|
Another vote for Margaritaville!!

Shops and restaurants would look like former sorting and shipping barns. Whatever they do they need more covered (shaded) seating for those who like coming to the squares and enjoying the entertainment. They also need more parking, as the distances mean there are more cars and less carts coming into the squares. |
