Best Pizza in TV Poll

It's been nearly 9 months since the thread started that asked what the best pizza in TV is. Reading through the many good posts expressing their opinions along with many not directly answering the question, I thought that having a poll would simplify things a little and save people from the daunting task of actually reading through all the posts then still not be clear on the overall picture except for a few clear cut favorites.

For this poll I read through all the posts and recorded only the restaurants that I believed were inside TV, although I might have erred on some. I also only counted the first mentioned favorite in the posts where multiple favorites were indicated.

Keeping in mind that I am limited to 10 selections for the poll, I have only listed those restaurants that had two or more indicated as favorites and used the tenth spot for those who find another restaurant outside those selection as there favorite. They can followup in a post if they chose to.

One last note. Please don't complain about my selections. They're not of my choosing, but as the result of what I found in the other threads.

Would love to participate in your poll, but whenever someone has the link where you have it I am unable to open. There must be something I am doing wrong???

I have no idea what you're referring to. However, you're not the only one confused. Your post was made about 24 minutes before I actually posted the poll. (???) Maybe it has something to do with the way the poll is developed, maybe not! Oh well, try voting again and see if it now works ok!

Thanks.

Bump!

jhrc4 02-04-2014 12:50 PM

How anyone can go to NYPD Pizza and honestly eat what they call genuine New York pizza has got to be asleep. #1 they are a chain and not a very good one at that.

The best Pizza by far is " Flippers " however " Ricciardis " which has only been open a short while has been given rave reviews.

NYPD Pizza ???? They all should be arrested for claiming to be genuine New York Pizza.

jhrc4 02-04-2014 12:56 PM

A warrant is out for the arrest of NYPD Pizza for claiming to be " Genuine " New York pizza. Lombardi's is " Genuine " . NYPD Pizza is a Chain, all of the ingredients are shipped in, pizza is made per the instructions.

And now You Know The Rest Of The Story

Aloha 02-08-2014 05:59 PM

I don't like the pizza at NYPD.

TNLAKEPANDA 02-08-2014 06:34 PM

Who you vote for might depend on where you live in TV. Some are not going to drive very far for a pizza

natickdan 02-08-2014 06:51 PM

My wife and I have been to NYPD a half dozen times and each time, we were hoping the pizza would be better than the previous visit. Not so! The pizza is just okay and certainly nothing like any pizza I had in New York or in my home town of Boston.

PaPaLarry 02-09-2014 06:33 AM

Not so many voted???? Does that mean, not too many eat pizza????? Hehehehehe

I don't eat Pizza a lot but whenever I've had Bravo's, I really like it. I also had pizza at Little Joey's a while ago and it was also quite good. Its been so long since I've had real New York pizza, that I can't make any comparison.

Tinbang 02-10-2014 07:22 PM

Pizza is pizza it's all bad

Figment 02-24-2014 09:53 PM

Don't know yet about the best pizza, haven't tried them all, but just had the worst experience at Flippers. Waited an hour ++ for pizza and when we asked after that wait was told it still wasn't in the oven. It was crowded but not that bad. Many people were asking since they had been waiting long. Watched pizzas being served and most looked burned. A lady with a group of 9 said she never got her pizza all the others were almost through.
Flippers pizza is good but don't think it's worth the wait.

So far, it looks like 128 voted, out of maybe 80,000-100,000? I think we need more involvement, to get a better picture. Any suggestions?

Dog owners could threaten to bring their puppies to poop on their lawns if they don't vote in this survey. If that's too radical then we could just turn this into another poop thread. That would probably do the job. If you have a better idea, lets hear it! :duck:

I heard the pizza is good at The Villages Hospital. One can get it while there for a heart bypass operation or any number of other procedures. They have a special going on right now, a free pizza with every heart bypass operation.

Is that the "Holier Than Thou" special?

Wizard of Oz 02-27-2014 04:40 PM

We make our own. Fresher ingredients, pizza is hot when you eat it, the beer is colder, no one complaining about the service, you don't have to leave home. And if it's not exactly the way you wanted it, you don't have to get yourself upset with other people. At home, you laugh and eat it anyway and better luck next time.

Reading all of the post I believe people seem to have forgotten what they were voting. They were not voting for the best pizza. the poll asked "what is your favorite pizza in TV....."

So let me suggest that before I could answer "best pizza"I would need more information. First how does one define best pizza? Is it thin, deep dish, red, white sausage peperoni, meatless, veggie triangle square round hot cold .................................................. .....I digress

This particlar pizza special is called, "A Friendly Reminder Special". It's a reminder about diabetes, heart disease, and certain forms of cancer.

Good question. I think I may have the answer, even though I haven't had any pizza for about 10 years now.

Best Pizza: The pizza that tastes the best to a particular individual, depending on individual taste preferences. (That's not Webster's definition it's VPL's difinition)

The next question is, in general, what makes a pizza taste good? It's fairly limited: 1) texture and thickness of the crust 2) fat from cheese/oil/meat 3) starchyness from the white flour crust 4) sodium and 4) vegetable toppings

And some pizza makers have said "fresh ingredients" make their pizzas taste better. A couple of decades ago I had the "best" pizza at ABC Pizza near USF. The owner said he used only fresh tomatoes, not canned. He used the best (quality) cheese and I think I remember that he drizzled a little extra virgin olive oil on top. I think that's right because I had to keep wiping my oily hands with napkins.

I tend to think it's mainly the high fat, high sodium content along with the texture that makes a pizza taste good. In that case a large slice with double cheese and meat could be about 500 calories.

It may taste very good but it's not at all healthy, particularly if you are already overweight. It's just asking for trouble.

Are we looking at different polls? I believe it asks What Is Your Favorite Place For Pizza In TV?

Spot on and why I only have pizza that is made at home

Doug you are correct it is favorite place but it did not ask for best pizza which was my point.

Pizza is popular and I do not know how one can say this is the best, best to what ?

Gotcha! Then I agree.

bbatts 03-03-2014 03:23 PM

Stavaros is also very good. I like a little better than Filppers.

dominojc 03-12-2014 12:59 PM

My vote is for Belleview Pizza..out of the Villages however, but worth the trip!

Chi-Town 03-12-2014 02:40 PM

The best in TV is Home Run Inn pizza in the frozen foods section.

scarecrow1 03-12-2014 04:11 PM

The best pizza in the villages is the one you make at home as no body knows how to make a good pizza here. They don't put much on it and they are usually about 10 inches round or they are flat bread pizzas. Not enough sauce on them either.

I agree!!! I started making my own again since I have more time after retiring. Tastes 100% better and cheaper also!! I made 2 the other day, figured it cost me about 3-4 bucks to make 2 cookie sheet sized ones...mmmm:-)

Would you share your pizza recipe.

Sure, for the dough, go to Homemade Pizza Recipe | Simply Recipes But I make my own recipe for sauce from fresh (not canned)Roma tomatoes, chopped and sauted with olive oil, garlic, salt&pepper and fresh basil until soft, approx.15-20min. And I use mozzarella shredded or sliced. I add some of the cheese right on the pizza dough first and then the sauce, and a little more of the cheese on top of the sauce, before baking. I also bake it at 500 degrees on the middle rack, approx.10-13 min. Watch it until the cheese & crust turns golden, b/c every stove is different when it comes to heat temps. Good Luck!! Enjoy!! :-):icon_hungry:

My favorite pizza while visiting TV AND when home in Upstate New York is Freschetta, in the grocer's freezer.

Where is Stavaros located, and do they serve a thin or thick crust (or both)?

tucson 03-13-2014 01:59 PM

Starvos is on 441/27 So. in Fruitland Park (also in Leesburg on the same road, but not owned by the same people in Fruitland Park) Their pizza is very good. Thin crust, I don't think they have thick crust.
