MF, have you seen this post about a 9-yr-old female schnoodle up for adoption?

Florida Poodle Rescue has precious older dogs up for adoption if you don't find one on this site. Go to their site and fill out an application to adopt. So many older dogs can't find homes. You are a god send!

Another suggestion.

Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder

Do you have a certain breed of dog in mind? There are many breed specific rescue organizations listed on-line.

If you are interested in a dachshund, you can check out: fldr.org

Agree with petfinder.com. Talked with my sister-in-law who lives in Tallahassee and is very involved with rescues and fostering rescues until she finds a forever home and she recommended petfinder.com and then they can put in a radius of how far you want to travel for a rescue, age of pet, etc.

Good place to adopt a loving pet

I volunteer weekly at the Marion County Humane Society, a no-kill facility. There are lots of wonderful, friendly, cuddly, sweet, loving dogs there looking for their forever home. The only day they are not open is Wed. Check it out.

Are you still looking for a small dog? I have a pure bred Shih TZu that I am looking for a home for, 7 yrs old. Unfortunately I must find a home for her due to financial reasons.

I just attended a meeting of the Responsible Dog Owners this evening which was held at the Eisenhower Rec Center. A new member there mentioned that at the Marion County Humane Society they are in drastic need of volunteers to help out, but mostly take the dogs for perhaps a 10 minute walk.

She went on to say that most of these dogs do not get out of their cages for weeks because of the lack of vounteers! Because of confinement for so long, many of them are gnawing at their cages because of the lack of the human touch and boredom. Subsequently, these dogs are put down because of their behavior.

Please rescuse a dog from this shelter, or perhaps even two dogs so they will each have company.

Curious -did you find a new furry friend? Over the years we have had several adult rescues and each of them has brought my husband and me abundant joy! Keep looking. There are lots of adult dogs looking for a forever home.
