Well said, Sgt Mac. From Retired CPO I salute you. Let us just hope that when they have the ceremony at the Vets memorial in the Villages, that the majority of the people there will rise and place their hand over their hearts when the National Anthem is played or the flag passes. I attended a couple of years ago and left in disgust when the onlookers just kept talking and never got out of their plush chairs. It felt like a replay of my return from Vietnam. No matter what the idiots do, let us keep our pride in ourselves, our country, and our Mates who died, or were seriously injured, in service to this country.

Keep it moving, even if you've seen it before...

It is the VETERAN , not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN , not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN , not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN , not the politician,
who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN
who salutes the Flag...
It is the VETERAN
who serves under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

VETERANS KNOW THAT THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE HAS NO EXPIRATION DATE.

God Bless them all!!!

A touching tribute to our troops

I send my silent Thank you to all who have protected us, stood for us, and did their brave duty even to the point of death.

As long as I can rise to my feet I will put my hand over my heart and applaud afterward when I hear our national anthem.

If I see a young serviceman, usually in fatiques now, I will quietly go up, give their arm a squeeze and say "Thank you!" They invariable respond with "Thank you Maam.

This is a wonderful country, the greatest place in the world, and we are allowed to live this beautiful life of liberty due to the servicemen and women who have protected and continue to protect our freedoms.

I know it is past the official, "Veterans Day" memorial but I just finished watching a documentary entitled, "Section 60: Arlington National Cemetery".
Did anyone else happen to see this wonderful, heart rending tribute to our service people lost in the Iraq war and their families and loved ones struggling to deal with their losses? I highly recommend this documentary if it is televised again.
